Honda Backing Team USA and the LA Olympics in 2028

The Olympics and Paralympics are coming to the City of Angels in 2028 and Honda has announced that not only is it backing Team USA, it will also be the official transportation partner for the games. American Honda CEO announced the partnership at Honda’s HQ’ in Torrance, CA along side U.S. Olympians and Paralympians Misty May-Treanor, Sara Hughes and Susannah Scaroni. The partnership is set to kick off next year when Team USA competes in the Winter Olympics and Paralympics in Milan-Cortina.

“The founders of Honda established our first U.S. operation in Los Angeles over 65 years ago, believing that success in America would lead to the success of Honda worldwide,” said Kazuhiro Takizawa, President & CEO of American Honda Motor Co., Inc. “On behalf of our 30,000 associates across the U.S. and in Southern California, Honda is proud to partner with LA28 and Team USA to support the remarkable athletes who will follow that same path to realize their dreams in Los Angeles in the quest for gold in the LA28 Olympic and Paralympic Games.”

When it comes to the games in Los Angeles, Honda and Acura will provide a fleet of vehicles that includes everything from the Honda 0 Series and the recently announced electric RSX, to the tiny and mighty Motocompacto e-scooter. Honda and Acura vehicles will also serve as pace cars for all endurance events. While we personally can’t wait to see athletes carving around Olympic village on Motocompacto scooters, we were most interested in the fact that the announcement effectively confirms that the all-electric RSX revival will on or before 2028.

With Acura bringing back the Integra name plate the RSX badge was in limbo until the automaker revealed in January that the RSX will return as an all-electric SUV which will most likely slot under the ZDX. The RSX will play a vital role in Acura’s line up, so having it be front and center during a major event like the Olympics with the world watching is shrewd to say the least.
