2020 among other things will forever be known as the year that (mostly) everyone had to stay inside. TV, video games, books, and board games are great but eventually we all have to find some safe way to get out of the house.
An emerging trend in recent weeks have been elaborate drive-thru experiences that allow participants to safely stay in their cars while still taking in fun sights and sounds surrounding them.
Earlier this year there was a Stranger Things-based drive thru experience in Los Angeles and tickets sold out in hours.
Now, it looks like Hot Wheels is getting in on the action. They’ve just announced their first ever “Hot Wheels Ultimate Drive-Thru” event starting in December 2020 and running through January 2021 at the Toyota Arena in Ontario, CA.
Visitors will drive along an over 1 mile path flanked by a collection of over 50 cars and monster trucks. That includes the original BIGFOOT and the BIGFOOT fleet as well as the Hot Wheels monster trucks Tiger Shark, Demo Derby, and V8 Bomber. By the way, if you’re a fan of monster trucks you might want to check out our review of the new Monster Truck Championship game.
The 4-story tall MEGASAURUS robotic dinosaur will be serving as one of the headlining attractions.
When it comes to cars visitors can expect to see life-sized versions of iconic Hot Wheels cars like the Twin-Mill, Deora II, Bone Shaker and a few more.
It also looks like the inaugural Hot Wheels Legends winner “2JetZ” will be on hand as well.
As visitors drive through the experience they can listen to an audio track that has fun facts and educational bits about the cars on display and cap things off with an in-car photo experience.
Tickets range from $45 to $60 per car depending on weekday or weekend events and if the tickets are purchased online in advance or on-site.
Each ticket comes with a Hot Wheels 3-car pack and the in-car photo I mentioned earlier. Though there are optional toy packs attendees can add on to their tickets.
Ticket sales start on October 29th on the official website and the first event is on December 3rd, 2020 and will run to January 2nd 2021.
