Hot Wheels Infinite Rush is Here and We’re Cautiously Hyped
Since its reveal at Summer Games Fest, Hot Wheels Infinite Rush has been on our radar, and for good reason. It’s an open-world racer that creates a massive virtual playground where you can race, jump, and crash as many Hot Wheels cars as you want, without worrying about cleaning them up later. It was the dream when we were kids, and it’s still the dream now. So, you can understand our optimism.
The game is officially out today for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. At launch, over 150 Hot Wheels cars are available, including licensed OEM cars and virtual versions of real Hot Wheels die-cast cars. Mattel and developer Milestone have confirmed that more cars are on the way via a Vehicle Pass that will add 44 cars over the course of a year, and a Ferrari Expansion Pack which will bring an additional eight Ferrari models, including the F40 Competizione and Testarossa.
Naturally, Milestone is also offering what looks to be a robust track builder that allows players to create courses that blend with the paths and terrain of the open world. The feature also lets players tweak the behavior of virtual opponents, including their racing line, acceleration, and braking points.
Players can also customize wheels, create stickers, and create liveries using any car as a base. Players can put their car up against rivals in impromptu races and run in several other event types to earn more cars for their garage.
If you’re waiting to hear what we think of the finished product before diving in yourself, we haven’t had the opportunity to go hands-on with Infinite Rush yet. However, we’re expecting that to change very soon. So, stay tuned for a full review from us. In the meantime, you can check out the official launch trailer and screenshot gallery.
