Rocket League Season 3 Brings F1 And NASCAR [VIDEO]
Rocket League is one of our favorite games and is one of the biggest multiplayer games in the world. Who would’ve thought that soccer with cars would have such massive global appeal? It’s so simple that every time we play it, we also kick ourselves for not thinking of it first.
Anyhow, last year Rocket League went free to play which means they’ve adopted a new revenue system based on “seasons”. Other popular free-to-play games like Fortnite and Apex Legends have similar systems.
Seasons generally involve a package of cosmetic items that players can get for a limited time.
Rocket League Season 3 brings F1 and NASCAR
Alright, now that we’re up to speed, let’s talk about the season 3 announcement. It has been confirmed that Formula 1 and NASCAR racecars are both coming to Rocket League in season 3.
The racecars will each be in their own bundles and are scheduled to launch in May, 2021. Can you imagine playing car soccer with an F1 car? So can we! That’s why we’re pretty interested in picking up these bundles once they launch.
In addition to the F1 and NASCAR cars, a redesign of the DFH Stadium is coming which will decorate it with a race track and the sights and sounds of a grand prix. The redesigned stadium will be added to all of the major playlists by the start of season 3 on April 7th.
There is a ton of other stuff coming to season 3 as well like other cars, rewards and other add-ons. Though, if we’re being honest, we just care about the F1 and NASCAR addition.

Rocket League Sideswipe
The concept of soccer with cars is already pure genius. It would be difficult to come up with an idea that is more beautifully simple. Yet, it appears to have happened. Psyonix, the developer of Rocket League recently announced a new game called Rocket League Sideswipe.
If Rocket League is soccer with cars, Rocket League Sideswipe is basketball with cars. The game even has a side view rather than Rocket League‘s wide open third-person stadium game play.
Rocket League Sideswipe will have 1v1 and 2v2 that are only 2 minutes long so gameplay should be fast and frenetic.
On top of the new approach to gameplay, Psyonix announced that Rocket League Sideswipe will be a mobile game. That could be good or bad depending on how they approach monetization.
If they can do it in a way that isn’t obnoxious then Rocket League Sideswipe has some real potential to be on our regular smartphone game rotation. We actually kind of wish that Sideswipe would come to consoles as well. Perhaps if it does well enough Psyonix might do that? Who knows?
