Before Forza Horizon 3 was launched at E3 in 2016, we speculated on three different locations that we thought would be the backdrop for the game.
Spoiler alert: we were totally wrong with all three guesses. We suspected Horizon 3 would take place in Western Europe, Brazil, or Japan.
We know now that Forza Horizon 3 went to Australia and it was a genius move by Playground Games.
Today we’re a little more than a month away from E3 2018 and it is highly likely that Forza Horizon 4 will be announced at the event.
So, we’re going to try again and speculate where the next Horizon game will take place.
We’re going to list our guesses from least likely to most likely and we’ll probably get them all wrong again but hey, speculation is part of the fun!
I know I’m a bit bias here but I think California would be a great location for a Horizon game. Forza Horizon is all about combining car culture with a music festival-style party and Southern California is pretty much the mecca of both. California been one of the epicenters of car culture for decades and we are pretty damn good at partying.
Furthermore, a good Horizon game needs a location that offers several terrain options and environments. California is one of the few places in the world where someone could go to the desert, the ocean, a massive forest, and even snowy mountains all in the same day. Not to mention the big cities being perfect back drops for street racing and the festival atmosphere.
Now, China may not be known for their party-animal ways but it is a beautiful country with lots of variety when it comes to environments and terrains. China has everything: big cities, sprawling forests, and snowy mountains. Though there is another reason why we picked China as a possible location. Recently, Turn 10 Studios director Dan Greenawalt tweeted that he would be visiting China for a few days.
Granted that could be for any number of reasons but its a little too close to the Forza Horizon 4 reveal to not be considered a possible clue.
I realize that we picked Japan as our number one guess last time and we were wrong but we strongly believe that Japan was on the shortlist when Playground Games was narrowing down the choices for Forza Horizon 3. It’s also a location that has been heavily requested by fans of the series for a long time. It also meets the environmental diversity requirement especially when it comes to mountains.
Can you imagine a Forza Horizon game stuffed full of amazing Japanese touge roads?! I can and it’s amazing!
Well, there you have it, our guesses for Forza Horizon 4’s location. Again we’re probably wrong on all three counts but that doesn’t really matter. Either way we’re incredibly curious about the announcement and we’ll share our initial thoughts as soon as we know more.
