Mercedes-AMG GT 63 APXGP Edition Is a Movie Car You Can Buy

We’re big fans of movie tie-in cars around here. Though unfortunately most instances are generally limited to some badging, maybe a decal or two and that’s about it. For the new F1 movie coming from Apple and Warner Bros we were holding out hopes for something a bit more special. It looks like we may have got it with the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 APXGP Edition. Besides being a very long alphabet soup title, this limited edition coupe goes beyond a plastic badge.

Named after the fictional F1 outfit from the film, the 2026 model Mercedes-AMG GT 63 sports a custom livery that matches that of the APXGP team featuring a black and gold color scheme. There is a decal package but beyond that there is also an exclusive paint finish for this model which is what we like to see. The limited edition coupe also features 21-inch AMG Forged Cross-Spoke wheels finished in matte gold and black brake calipers. The AMG carbon fiber package which includes a font splitter, side sill trims, rear diffuser, and fixed rear wing is thrown in as well. The carbon fiber package isn’t exclusive to this model, but its there to drive home the motorsport theme. Under the hood the coupe retains the same 577 horsepower 4.0-liter twin-turbo V-8 found in other Mercedes-AMG GT 63 trims.

The black and “race gold” color scheme continues inside the GT 63 and includes some special APXGP branding as well as a badge that designates the production number. By the way, did we mention that only 52 examples will be produced globally? This might be one of the rarest movie tie-in cars ever produced. Mercedes-Benz didn’t reveal a price but that’s likely because every last one is already spoken for.

Stop us if you’ve heard this before, the F1 film follows Brad Pitt who plays a former champion-caliber driver that fell from grace but returns to the sport to mentor a new hot-shot driver. Perhaps it isn’t the most original premise, but our hype for the F1 film is largely driven by the incredible cinematography we’ve seen in the trailers. F1 is directed by Joseph Kosinski and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer the same team behind Top Gun: Maverick which had some stunning sequences due to the unique placement of IMAX cinema cameras.

Kosinski is used those same camera techniques on F1 to capture as much of the action in-camera as possible without relying on CG as much. Much of the film was also shot during real F1 races during the 2024 season to maximize production value. If nothing else this film has the potential to be a real feast for the eyes and ears, especially for racing fans. F1 is set to hit theaters on June 27th, 2025 and will be available in IMAX.
