Aston Martin Builds Military Tactical SUV…For Call of Duty

Aston Martin is getting into the military vehicle business. At least, imaginary military vehicles, that is. Today, the historic automaker revealed the Aston Martin Dreadnought. A futuristic tactical military V12 SUV it produced specifically for the new Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 video game.

However, if you thought that the Dreadnought is purely digital, you’d be wrong. Aston Martin built a real-life Dreadnought and unveiled it at an event in New York to announce the partnership with Call of Duty. Aston Martin didn’t say whether the physical model at the reveal was a working, driving vehicle, but we would like to think that, underneath it all, there are the underpinnings of a DBX.

The exterior design certainly gives off utilitarian warfare vibes, if spoken with Aston Martin’s design language. Despite the futuristic design, there are very clear nods to Aston Martin’s design history. The front end of the Dreadnought is certainly inspired by the muscle car-esque design that has been part of Aston Martin’s DNA since the AMV8 from the late 70s all the way through to the Valiant and Valour that round out its current line up. The high-dovetail rear end seems to be a reference to the Vantage and Vanquish.

It’s unfortunate that the Aston Martin Dreadnought won’t be a production vehicle, but Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 players can still “drive” it in the game, including in DMZ mode and in the free-to-play battle royale game, Call of Duty: Warzone. So, the next time some 12-year old insults your mother because you threw off their K/D ratio and accuses you of spawn camping, you can at least unwind by finding the Dreadnought…and then running them over with it.

Maybe if enough players drive the car in-game, it may convince Aston Martin to build a limited-run, streetable version of this beastly SUV. Or maybe some AI-billionaire can have one built for them via the Q by Aston Martin program?
