The Lincoln Town Car Is the Latest Marvel Movie Hero

There are now 35 films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) since it’s launch in 2008. In that time we’ve seen some pretty slick vehicles making cameos in the comic book blockbusters. Everything from the Lamborghini Huracan in Doctor Strange to all the Audi R8’s featured across all the Iron Man films. Though, it looks like the latest bad ass ride coming to the MCU is…a 90’s-era Lincoln Town Car limo?

Seen in the trailers for the upcoming Marvel Studios film Thunderbolts*, a 90s Lincoln Town Car is at the center of what looks like a major car-chase action set piece. The limo is painted dark red to match its owner, the Red Guardian, a Russian super soldier who seems to have fallen on hard times since he was last seen in Black Widow. It seems that Alexei (Red Guardian) had trouble finding work as a super soldier so he’s started his own business “Red Guardian Limo Service” with the hilarous tag line “Protecting you from boring evening.”

We haven’t seen the limo in much detail in the trailers released so far, but from what is available it looks like the limo is a second-generation FN36 Lincoln Town Car. The second-gen Town Car model year started in 1990 and ended in 1997. For those who haven’t seen Black Widow yet, the opening of the film takes place in the 90s, so it’s possible that Alexei fell in love with the model when it came out, or more likely it was just the newest model he could afford.

It appears that Red Guardian’s limo is a completely original creation specifically for Thunderbolts* as the Town Car doesn’t appear to show up in the comics. The Thunderbolts do have a vehicle in the comics called the “Thudnerstrike” but that’s an assault plane and not a decades old limo. To be fair it looks like Red Guardian did equip his Town Car with some counter-measures, unfortunately they don’t seem to work that well as you’ll see in the trailer.

Regardless, it’s pretty cool to see a throwback car like a FN32 Lincoln Town Car make an apperance in a major Marvel Studios production. Hopefully the limo will make an apperance at San Diego Comic-Con this year. If not then we’ll all just have to wait for it to make its debut when Thunderbolts* releases on May 2nd, 2025.
