Esports racing is gaining momentum and Honda is taking the opportunity to establish themselves by searching the sim-racing community for the next stars.
Honda Performance Development (HPD) has announced that they are launching an Esports racing academy and they are launching a global search for drivers to join the HPD JAS Esports Pro Team.
In a partnership with SRO Motorsports America, the HPD JAS Esports Pro Team will search for the best sim-racers within the popular racing game Assetto Corsa Competizione.
The search will span North America, Europe, and Asia. The drivers selected will become factory HPD Esports sim-racers.
If you want your chance at a spot on the team, entries have already begun by the time you read this. Sim-racer hopefuls will pilot the Acura NSX GT3 Evo race car in open qualifiers within the game and the top 25 drivers in each region will advance with the qualifiers ending on May 14th, 2021
On May 18th, 2021 the drivers who advanced out of the qualifiers will race against each other in live streamed events in which the final selections will be made based on performance.
The selected drivers who join the team will have access to a number of resources that will help them up their game (no pun intended). That includes access to HPD coaching sessions, discounted rig equipment, and marketing support from HPD and SRO marketing executives.
Additionally, the chosen drivers will get to drive a real HPD factory race car through a partnership with Skip Barber Racing school. Selected drivers from North America will get a free three-day course at Skip Barber and get to test in TC America Honda Civic Type R and Civic Si TCA racecars.
Drivers chosen from the European and Asian regions will get similar real-world racing experiences and even a bonus Acura NSX GT3 Evo race car drive.
If you think you have what it takes, you can join the search right now on the registration page. Remember qualifier events end on May 14th, 2021.
