Cyberpunk 2077 Inspired Mustang Will Be Given Away By Rockstar Energy

I know that Cyberpunk 2077 isn’t a racing game but cars and other vehicles are still going to be a huge part of it; which is one of the many reasons why I’m really excited to finally get my hands on it next month.

In Cyberpunk 2077 the vehicle designs have this crazy blend of classic, post-modern, and futuristic influences that get mashed together into cars and bikes that look like they could be real 50 years from now.

As part of the hype for the upcoming release, Cyberpunk 2077’s developer CD Projekt Red has teamed up with Rockstar Energy to build a custom 1970 Ford Mustang inspired by the “Quadra Type-66”.

Not only was this car built, but they are giving it away. You can learn more about that below.

As you might guess, the Quadra is a vehicle that players can drive in Cyberpunk 2077. The question is, how do you take a real life muscle car from the 70’s and make it look like a car from a dystopian future 57 years from now?

The answer is “a lot of custom parts”. The Rockstar Energy Drink Performance Garage was tapped to take on the build and they really went all out.

Exterior mods

As I mentioned before the team started with a 1970 Ford Mustang coupe that was generally stock. In fact, it only had 37,000 original miles on it. From there many of the exterior pieces like body panels and bumpers were replaced with custom carbon fiber pieces created by Anvil Auto.

The stock steel bumpers were replaced with carbon fiber pieces as well. The rear of the car was finished with a carbon fiber deck-lid spoiler.

A custom laser-cut grille was designed specifically to shroud the headlights to give the Mustang a look that is reminiscent of the Quadra Type-66’s distinctive front end. To drive the point home further, a one-off “Quadra” badge set was cut from metal and placed on the front grille with all other badges blacked out.

A set of custom Rotiform three-piece wheels sit at the corners. The wheels are finished in flat black and wrapped with Mickey Thompson tires.

Modern fog lights and reverse lights were installed for that added “resto-mod” vibe.

Finally the entire car was covered with a “Quadra yellow” custom vinyl wrap complete with a Rockstar Energy livery.

Performance and handling mods

When it comes to performance things are a little more conservative. The Mustang was given a stock-block 302 engine. However a few parts were added to boost performance.

The old carburetor was ditched in favor of a fuel injection system with a standalone engine management computer from FAST. A K&N intake system with large 3 inch filters helps the Mustang take in more air.

A large Mishimoto radiator was bolted on to keep engine temperatures in check.

The Mustang’s brake system was converted to a disc brakes all around with an R1 Concepts big brake kit. A Ridetech coilover set up was added to improve handling.

Interior mods

The interior was completely redone with carbon fiber trim pieces everywhere, custom bucket seats and carbon fiber steering wheel from STATUS, and a set of gauges from Dakota Digital.

The aforementioned gauges have a lighting system that is user customizable with a smart phone app but they glow “Quadra yellow” by default.

Finally a full suite of kicker audio high end speakers were added in to blend with custom upholstery.

Alright so here is the important part. You can actually win this car. To enter, players have to input codes found on limited edition Cyberpunk 2077 Rockstar Energy drink cans.

The codes are found on the tabs of the cans and can be entered on the giveaway website 2077.Rockstarenergy.com.

There are other items up for grabs as well like credit for Xbox Live, Cyberpunk 2077 digital comics, gaming accessories, and Cyberpunk 2077 apparel.

The contest will take place over the next 90 days from the day this post was published and during the period Rockstar Energy will release videos documenting the Mustang build.
