Logitech G923 Racing Wheel Revealed (Video) UPDATE
After some subtle teases, Logitech G just revealed their brand new G923 TRUEFORCE Sim Racing Wheel. On first glance this new wheel looks a lot like Logitech’s previous G29 & G920 wheels and for the most part you’d be right.
UPDATE: Logitech G has confirmed that the G923 TRUEFORCE Sim Racing Wheel will be compatible with Xbox Series X. Original story continues below.
However, there are some visual changes that are subtle in appearance but significant in functionality. First, both versions (Xbox & PlayStation) of the G923 feature a LED rev-indicator light just above the center hub of the wheel. This helps players keep their eyes forward instead of glancing down at the corner of the screen to check their RPM’s on a game’s heads up display.
This is a great addition considering that a rev-indicator light is typically an expensive add-on accessory with other sim-wheels. Though, it should be noted that the rev-indicator light is not compatible with all games.
Another exterior change is a 24-point selection dial that players can customize to make adjustments in certain parameters like brake force, traction control, etc. This selection dial used to be exclusive to Logitech wheels made for PlayStation but on the G923 both versions will come with it. Again, the dial’s function must be supported by the game being played for it to work completely. You’ll find that to be a theme in this post.
Finally, there are a few subtle cosmetic changes like a metallic blue center stripe and a larger Logitech “G” logo on the wheel hub.
Beyond that, everything else that’s new is all underneath the surface. The headline feature is something Logitech G calls “TRUEFORCE”. This is Logitech G’s new take on force-feedback.
In fact Logitech G refers to TRUEFORCE as a “high definition force-feedback”. How does it work? Well, a standard wheel uses a library of pre-programed force-feedback libraries to approximate what the force and vibrations should feel like.
According to Logitech G, TRUEFORCE can actually calculate (in the wheel) the force and vibration parameters on the fly based directly off feedback from the physics system of the game being played.
In theory this means the feedback from the wheel will feel much more realistic and nuanced with players being able to detect changes in terrain, weather effects on grip, bumps from kerbing and more.
The Logitech G923 still features the same dual-motor system as the previous wheels but this time it has updated “closed-loop motor control” which constantly monitors the current flowing through each motor and can adjust the voltage to match a racing game’s physics engine.
Once again, TRUEFORCE only works in games that support it. Currently those games are Gran Turismo Sport, GRID (2019), and Assetto Corsa Competizione. Though it’s very possible that other racing games can release updates to take advantage of that function.
There is also a new “dual-clutch launch assist” function thrown in for good measure; if the game being played supports it.
On the G923 website there is a full list of all the racing games currently compatible with the wheel with special notations for which games support the TRUEFORCE and dual-clutch launch assist functions.
As of the writing of this post, Logitech has confirmed that the G923 wheel will work on PlayStation 4 (PS4), Xbox One, and PC. The wheel is also confirmed to work with the new PlayStation 5 (PS5) once it releases later this year.
There was no “official” confirmation if the G923 will work on the upcoming Xbox Series X. However, Microsoft has made previous statements about the backwards compatibility of controllers and other peripherals on their new console. So, I would be willing to guess that the G923 will likely work with the Series X once it releases.
The Logitech G923 TRUEFORCE racing sim wheel is “expected to ship” in August 2020 (this month) and can be pre-ordered right now for $399.99.
If we get a chance to review this wheel I’ll be sure to let you know my thoughts on it.
I would love to know what you think based on what we know about the Logitech G923 so far. Are you excited for this? Unimpressed? Share your opinions in the comments below or tweet to me at @MotorworldHype.

“A great force-feedback racing wheel can be the difference between crossing the finish line first and spinning off the track and not finishing at all,” said McLaren F1 driver Lando Norris. “The new Logitech G923 wheel with TRUEFORCE gives drivers an authentic experience behind the wheel and simulates the details we feel as racing drivers. TRUEFORCE connects directly to in-game engines, processing at up to 4000 times per second to produce next-gen realism and detail in supported games.
“For the last few years, we’ve been working with sim drivers, and professional race car drivers to develop a full-featured, realistic driving experience like no other,” said Ujesh Desai, general manager at Logitech G. “With TRUEFORCE you really get to feel the road, along with all the subtle features of the race car. It truly elevates the experience, and everyone we’ve had try it always walks away with a smile!”
