While all the Formula 1 speculators are still buzzing about the recent news that Sebastian Vettel leaving Ferrari, Codemasters has capitalized on the fervor by releasing a brand new crispy gameplay trailer for F1 2020.
If your internet connection can handle it, the gameplay trailer can be viewed in 4K resolution at 60fps (frames-per-second). Based on this trailer, F1 2020 looks absolutely beautiful. It is clear that Codemasters have made some tweaks to their custom game engine to allow for impressive levels of detail.
For example, something that stood out to me was the very slight transparency in the driver’s helmet visors allowing their faces to be shown while still reflecting the rest of the environment.
Facial definition on drivers is miles ahead and is even to the point that skin pores are visible in close up shots. The question of whether or not such things should be seen is debatable but the fact that they pulled off that level of detail is impressive nonetheless.
Material and surface textures seem to be much more defined as well. Liveries on cars and helmets look significantly sharper than they did in previous games. Lighting has always been a strong point in Codemasters’ F1 games so it basically goes without saying that the lighting effects look good.
I’m definitely looking forward to seeing more gameplay as we get closer to the July 10th launch.
For now, I’m left wondering what (if any) enhancements Codemasters has in store for F1 2020 once Xbox Series X and Sony’s PlayStation 5 are released? Could there be a 120fps mode? An 8K 30pfs mode? Raytracing? All we can do for now is speculate.
In the meantime check out the new gameplay trailer below and let me know what you think in the comments, or tweet to me at @MotorworldHype.
