Racing Community Unites To Help Teen Racer Billy Monger
Last weekend 17 year old Formula 4 driver Billy Monger of the UK suffered a horrible crash during a race at Donington Park. He crashed into the back of a stalled car at full speed. The car was hidden from his view by a third car which moved at the last second giving Monger no time to react. The race was red flagged so that the drivers could be attended to. The driver in the stalled car, Patrik Pasma was relatively alright, but unfortunately Billy Monger was severely injured and it was reported by his team today that Billy has had amputations to both of his legs.
This is obviously a terrible result, especially for someone so young. Billy’s team set up a crowdfunding page to help cover his medical treatment and recovery. Once the racing community got wind of this many notable names like Jenson Button, Conor Daly, Chip Ganassi, Mark Webber, the McLaren F1 team and more helped to spread the word on their social media accounts as you’ll see below

As of the writing of this post, the crowdfunding page has reached its goal. However, chances are Billy and his family will need more to fund what will likely be a lengthy on-going recovery effort. If you want to help this young man, you can visit his crowdfunding page at the source link below.
