Opinion: Our Take On The WatercooledIND Racist Message Controversy (Video)
A little while ago, my instagram feed blew up with memes of forged wheels along side images of Donald Trump and the Ku Klux Klan. Obviously I was puzzled by it so I did some digging and discovered that it all rose from a facebook post from a guy named Dominic Lebron. Dominic posted screen shots of messages he received from the instagram account for Watercooled IND, a wheel company in Michigan.
In the messages Dominic is repeatedly called the N-word, accused of being poor and on welfare, and has his life threatened. Pretty intense right? Why did Dominic receive these messages? Well he believes that the messages are actually from the Watercooled IND CEO, Chris Bosgraff and that Bosgraff was upset with Dominic for text messages he sent to his girlfriend.
In the video below I go more into depth over what exactly happened according to Dominic and our take on the whole situation. If you’ve ever suffered or witnessed discrimination in the car culture then I really hope you watch this. Afterward, feel free to share your thoughts below in the comments. Also I want to give a warning to anyone who is particularly sensitive to racist subject matter as I go into detail over exactly what was said but without actually using any racial slurs or cuss words.
By the way, I would link to the Watercooled IND website but it has since been taken down.
