Gaming Hype: New eSports Tournaments Coming To Forza Motorsport 6

If you follow video games even a little bit, then you know that “eSports” are kind of a big deal right now.  There are massive video game competitions happening all over the world every month and many times there is real cash on the line.  Sometimes millions of dollars!  While increasingly popular, typically eSports usually revolve around shooting games like Halo, strategy games like DOTA, or fighting games like Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat.

Now it seems that Forza Motorsport wants to make their mark in the world of eSports as it has been announced that Forza 6 tournaments will come to Forza 6 via Xbox Live.  One tournament will revolve around the real-world racing series Formula E.  Along side each Formula-E round this year (starting on March 24th) a special Forza 6 Formula E rivals event will go up on Xbox Live where players will race for the fastest times.  Eventually the top 10 players will be flown to London to race against one another for cash prizes.

Another tournament coming to Forza 6 will be sanctioned by Major League Gaming (MLG) and will be based on S-Class cars of their choosing on various tracks.  Competitors will be racing for a chance to compete live on an MLG live stream in New York for a share of a cash prize pool.

I think if this does well it will open the door up for more official eSports tournaments in the future.  I am definitely excited to see where this goes.  Are you going to enter either (or both) of these tournaments?  What do you think of Forza getting involved in eSports?  Let us know your thoughts in the comments below or tweet to us at @MotorworldHype.
