Hype: Scion FR-S Gets An Interior Re-Fresh, New Tech, Two New Colors, And Slightly Smaller MSRP For 2016
The Scion FR-S is easily the most popular import sports car out today. Sure you have your Evo’s and WRX’s but the FR-S with its much easier price point has been cleaning up. Scion could very well kick back and watch the sales roll in without doing anything but rather than resting on their laurels they’ve decided to shake things up and give the FR-S a bit of a re-fresh for 2016.
They are starting with the interior by adding new silver accents on the steering wheel bezel, shift bezel, door grip, and on the center console. They are also upgrading the audio system with a 7 inch touch screen interface with voice recognition now being standard. New FR-S owners will be using that 7 inch screen when they throw their car in reverse as a back-up camera is being added as well.
There will also be two new available colors: “Ablaze” red, and “Oceanic” blue. Finally, Scion will give the MSRP a bit of a shave with the 6 speed manual now starting at $25,305 (previously $25,670) and the sequential automatic now starting at $26,405 (previously $26,770). That’s a $365 price drop on both options. Not bad! The 2016 Scion FR-S with the new features will be available starting this June (2015).
Do the new features, colors, and price make the FR-S more attractive to you? Do you think Scion should do more to make the FR-S more attractive? Let us know in the comments or tweet to us at @MotorworldHype.
