This is an oldie but a goodie. Its been almost 9 years now since Honda All-Star driver Gil De Ferran provided hard evidence that a Champ Car (back in the C.A.R.T. days) could go over 235mph. At California Speedway during a closed session he rocketed his ground missile around the 2 mile oval to the tune of 241mph. It was one of the best motorsport memories I have from back then.

Cosworth 2008-2009 Subaru WRX STi Front Mount Intercooler
Some might say that an intercooler is an intercooler. I say not if its made by Cosworth. They have a new front mount kit for the 2008-2009 Subaru STi. It comes with everything you need to install without having to cut or do any fabrication. They’ve also powdercoated it black just because it’s fresh! I love Cosworth!

One Mo’ ‘Gain: Nissan Orders Dealers To Reprogram GT-R Launch Control
In what most would call retribution a dealer bulletin was released to day from Nissan to all GT-R approved dealers to reprogram the launch control software on all GT-R’s awaiting delivery and to “strongly encourage” current GT-R driving customers to bring in their cars for a re-flash as well.
Most suspect this is all to appease the rumors that ran rampant across the interwebs that using the GT-R’s launch control more than 12 times or so would gernade the transmission. Which subsiquently would not be covered by the iron clad warranty due to having to turn off VDC to engage the launch control. The new parameters sets the launch RPM to about 3000 to 3500 rather than the current limit of 4500 RPM and also reprograms the clutch for less shock on the driveline.

KW Suspensions Variant 3 Coilovers For Acura NSX
The magic never stops at KW Suspensions. I’m convinced they wont be satisfied until they create race ready coilovers for every type of car on the planet. Even buses! They aren’t quite there yet but well on the way. What you see here is their famous Variant 3 set up tailor made for the Acura NSX. The NSX is already pretty lethal in stock form I’d love to see how it carves with the new variants bolted on.

Hype Teaser: Extreme Bentley
Bentley sent out this teaser shot of their new “Extreme Bentley“. Not much is known about this car yet other than Bentley claims it will be their most powerful Bentley ever and is their first flex-fuel vehicle. You read correctly, this winged “B” will run on gasoline, bio-diesel, or a combination of the two. I’m sure there are many more juicy details to this beast and will bring them to you as things develop.

Skunk2 Throttle Body For Mitsubishi Evo VII, VIII, IX
Skunk2 used all of their extremely expensive machines and hyper intelligent engineers to create a throttle body for the Evo VII, Evo VIII, and Evo IX that would not only increase air flow but keep things nice and smooth just like the OEM unit. They were also considerate enough to make sure that all the stock lines and comes with a special IAC mounting block so the car will still idle like stock as well. How considerate!

Work Equip 05
In a surprizing move Work Wheels is bringing back the Equip for 2009 but instead of a old school star/mesh theme, they’re going for a luxury look. I’m sure opinions of this strategy will be mixed especially since the old Equips have a near cult following. I guess we’ll see how this works out over the course of ‘09. Above is the Equip 05 which as the name suggests is a 5 spoke design that comes in polished sliver, flat silver, anodized black, and super chrome. What do you guys think?

Alpinestars Nomex Socks
Dude Alpinestars has Nomex socks. Fire-resistant socks! How awesome is that?! Sure, they’re about 25 bucks a pair but they’re fire-resistant! I want to buy seven pairs and wear them everyday! I should say the serious use for them is obviously at the track to keep your toes from burning off should your car be engulfed in flames, but there is no rule that says you couldn’t use them as regular socks too!
