LA Auto Show: Mansory Exhibit

Posted on 11.30.08 | Andrew Beckford No Comments

Ok, so here is my “holy S#!+” moment of the show.  I’m strolling along Kenita Hall and right when I’m about to leave I see a giant studio lit exhibit with a big sign that says “MANSORY” on it! Turns out that Mansory has a exclusive distrubtor state side called Ogara Coach.   After my school girl freak out they let me past the rope to take a few snaps.  Standing in front of the Stallone 599GTB was quite the experience.  Pictures really do not do it justice.

We Miss You: Rays Engineering TE37 Mag

Posted on 11.26.08 | Andrew Beckford No Comments

I understand that over time certain things have to change or go away like the seasons, clothing styles, or my favorite TV show from back in the day “my secret identity.”  However sometimes it seems like good things that should stick around much longer go away with no rhyme or reason.  Case in point the TE37 Mag wheel!  I mean come on Rays!  The TE37 is easily among the top 10 of the best wheels ever made and its still super popular to this day.  Why on earth would they get rid of the Mag edition?!  Dude’s are out there painting regular TE37s mag blue because they can’t get the real thing!  Shouldn’t this be a sign to you that maybe it might be a good idea to bring the mag back??? Hellooo McFlyyyyyy???!!

Ok, ok I’m sure there is some logical and economical reason why Rays decided to discontinue the TE37 mag but whatever the cause it still sucks!  Ok rant over…

Oh and if I didn’t already make it extremely obvious, if you can find a genuine set of TE37 mags anywhere you should get them immediately.  In fact, do one better.  Find a Japanese person and ask them to translate an email for you to Rays Engineering in Japan and tell them that you want the TE37 mag back! Fight the power!

LA Auto Show: Aston Martin Exhibit

Posted on 11.25.08 | Andrew Beckford No Comments

This was one exhibit that I was dying to check out.  The Aston Martin display is always classy but this time around I had extra insentive to stop by as it would be my one chance to finally see the new DBS up close and I’m here to tell you its just as impressive in person as it is in all the beautiful media pictures that were released earlier this year.  Don’t get me wrong though, every car in Aston’s current line is a work of art but stay tuned to see a more focused post on the DBS Soon.

Red Bull Buys Back Its Share in Toro Rosso

Posted on 11.25.08 | Andrew Beckford No Comments

It looks like ol’ Berger wont be the head man over at Toro Rosso anymore according to SPEED.  Recently Mr. Mateschitz (CEO of Red Bull) bought back the 50% stake in the Toro Rosso team that was once owned by Gerhard Berger.  With Gerhard out of the mix some think this might result in a major shake up within the team and some have even suggested that they might invite Scott Speed back across the pond (not bloody likely).  All that is known currently is that its still in Mateschitz’ long term plan to eventually sell the team off again.  Seriously, this team has been passed around more than a wizard shaped bong at a frat party.

COBB Tuning Coilover Sleeve System For Nissan GT-R

Posted on 11.25.08 | Andrew Beckford No Comments

This unique coilover setup by COBB Tuning allows the user to adjust the ride height on his or her GT-R while retaining the factory adjustible shocks.  It also replaces the stock rubber bushings with teflon lined spherical-bearing top mounts.  The anodized blue and gold color scheme doesn’t look too bad either!  Check out GTRMod.com if you’re interested in a set.

LA Auto Show: Ferrari Exhibit

Posted on 11.21.08 | Andrew Beckford No Comments

Ferrari is always one of my favorite exhibits to vist at the LA Auto Show.  Why is it my favorite? Um because there are a bunch of brand spanking new Ferrari’s in it thats why!  This year Ferrari dedicated their press conference to talk a little bit more about the Ferrari California that was released earlier this year.  Ferrari flew over their head of Product Planning to discuss the numbers of the California, some technical aspects, and a little about the philosophy behind the car.  We laughed, we cried then we had cheese, wine and crackers.

One of the coolest things about the exhibit however were displays of a few Ferrari accessories like a carbon fiber cigar box.  They also had all of their custom steering wheel options on display as well as a few of their brake caliper color options.  Once again Ferrari classes it up in LA.  Their exhibit is a definte must see if you’re going to visit the LA Auto Show.  Also if any of the Ferrari accessories catch your fancy do some christmas shopping at FerrariStore.com.

Check out this video from Ferrari’s press conference:
