If you’re like me you’ve developed a severe nervous twitch because your anticipation for the Red Bull World Drifting Championship is so strong that you swear you smell tire smoke already.  Formula D is made an attempt to calm the craving by releasing this preview video.  They talked to a few of their top guys to get their thoughts on the event and how they feel about the course layout being a complete secret.

SPOTTED: Veilside/Roush Mustang In Orange

Posted on 10.29.08 | Andrew Beckford 1 Comment

I think we’ve all experienced the joys of randomly coming across a fresh ride.  We’ve made a decision to attempt to document those instances in blog posts we call “SPOTTED”.  If RJ or myself come across a car that is sick enough to hold our short attention spans for longer than 5 seconds then it’s probably going to end up as a SPOTTED post!

In the inagural post I’m spotting MotorworldHype reader Koji Kanemoto’s Veilside Mustang.  He is only one of four Mustang guys in the US who has this kit.  As you may recall RJ himself snagged up one when he built the Valvoline Challenge Mustang a while back.   Besides the Veilside kit there is also some “go” under the hood as this ’stang is sporting a polished Roush supercharger.

After looking at Koji-san’s Mustang I’d have to say I’m totally feeling it and thats a BIG deal because typically I despise Mustangs!  However Koji’s car is one I’d love to have in my Garage.

I know what you’re thinking.  “How does this car qualify for SPOTTED if its a reader’s car?”  Well after Koji sent me this picture I realized that I’ve seen this car before…At WalMart of all places!  Long Beach represent!

Hamann BMW M6 Wide Body Kit

Posted on 10.29.08 | Andrew Beckford No Comments

This one is a bit of a head scratcher.  What you’re looking at is a wide body kit for the BMW M6 by Hamann.  The problem for me is I can’t figure out if I love or hate this thing.  Every time I start to feel like it might be cool I get thrown off by some random air scoop or vent.  Its like trying to figure out a rubix cube!

Maybe you’re able to make a more firm decision than I am.  If you want to pick this kit up for your M6 you could hit up 3TMotorsport.

Nissan Reveals First Official Images of 370Z

Posted on 10.29.08 | Andrew Beckford No Comments

Up until now there were “spy shots” and “teasers” everywhere of what many thought was the newest Z car but now Nissan has put the “official” stamp on some new pictures that surfaced today.  Unfortunately for the most part all we got were pics.  We do hear that it will have a shorter wheel base than the 350Z and possibly make around 350 horsepower.

Personally I’m not sure if I’m feeling the front end on this thing.  I was hoping that they would liken it to the GT-R facia but they wen a completely different way.  Although often times the lines of a car look different in person than in pictures.  So I’ll withhold my judgement until I see the new Z car face to face at the LA Auto Show next month..

Cobb Tuning Evo X Intercooler Hard Pipe Kit

Posted on 10.28.08 | Andrew Beckford No Comments

If you have an Evo X and you’re planning on upping your boost it might be a good idea to do something about the rubber hoses that connect to the factory intercooler.  Cobb Tuning’s hard pipe kit replaces all the stock intercooler piping with weld-less aluminum pieces to better stand up to the pressure.  Also if you’re not feeling the polished aluminum look the kit is available in gun metal powder-coat.

Vorsteiner tuning program for E92 BMW M3

Posted on 10.28.08 | Andrew Beckford No Comments

The E92 BMW M3 just got kicked up a notch by Vorsteiner.  They’re new tuning program shaves some weight and gives a more aggressive look.  They developed a carbon front splitter, carbon rear diffuser, and took off another hunk of weight with a carbon fiber trunk that has an integrated spoiler.  They also improved the sound with a titanium exhaust.  The exhaust looks fresh and weighs 40lbs less than the stock unit!  This is definitely a fresh program.

ASM I.S. Dry Carbon Fiber S2000 Doors

Posted on 10.28.08 | Andrew Beckford No Comments

What’s the fastest and most expensive way to shave a chunk of weight off a Honda S2000?  Spending about 10 grand on a set of genuine dry carbon fiber doors from ASM!  Yes, they are quite pricy BUT this is legit stuff!  Each door only weighs 6lbs!

Meguiars Aluminum Wheel Cleaner

Posted on 10.28.08 | Andrew Beckford No Comments

Obviously we dig wheels a lot here but there isn’t any point in having a fresh set of car kicks if you let them get dirty.  Now if you ask 5 different people about the right way to clean a set of aluminum wheels you’re going to get 5 different answers.  I figure the safest bet is to go with Meguiars. I don’t want to sound like a commercial but they really do make top shelf stuff.

Momo Supercup

Posted on 10.28.08 | Andrew Beckford No Comments

I’ve been digging Momo stuff since ‘96 and so far they’ve always been pretty on point.  The Supercup racing seat was always a favorite and it looks like they freshend it up a bit with some new stiching and logo placement.

Vorsteiner 997 V-GT

Posted on 10.27.08 | Andrew Beckford No Comments

Vorsteiner just dropped a new aero tuning program for the Porsche 997 dubbed the 997 V-GT.  They shaved a bit weight and added some downforce with some creative use of their patented dry carbon fiber.  The Front and rear bumpers are all full carbon while the front also features a replaceable carbon front splitter insert.   The rear has integrated ducts and diffuser which looks freakin FRESH!

If you really want to top off the look then I suggest picking up their special edition V-301 wheels.  They were specifically designed for this package and their directional spokes actually channel air flow to cool the brakes while driving.  You can get them as wide as 13 inches if you’re rocking a turbo.

This kit is pretty sick if you have the cash.  I’d highly suggest it if you’re looking for a way to set off your 997 from the rest of the P-car crowd.
