Cars & Bids to Auction Acura NSX Roadster from Marvel’s Avengers

Last summer, Acura announced that it would auction off the NSX roadster driven by Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark in the final scene of Marvel’s The Avengers. Acura brought the custom NSX to Monterey Car Week for a “hand-raising opportunity” to gauge interest from potential buyers. However, it turns out you don’t need to visit a high-dollar car corral for a shot at owning the vehicle. Acura has confirmed that the Avengers NSX Roadster will be sold via Cars & Bids. So technically, the auction may be open to everyone, as long as they have the funds.

Avengers Acura NSX Roadster Origin Story

For a quick background, this car is something of a legend (no Acura pun intended). Back in 2012, when the car was revealed in the film, not much was known about how it was built. It was also our first glimpse of what the NC1-generation NSX would look like, which really added to its mystique. We’ve since learned that, underneath all those body panels, is a random first-gen NSX that Acura had lying around in its archives. Furthermore, while it is drivable, because of how it’s built, it’s not recommended to exceed 30 mph. Despite all that, this NSX Roadster is easily sought after by Marvel fans and car collectors alike.

Next Stop: Sundance Film Festival

Today, Acura announced that the Avengers NSX Roadster’s next stop will be the Sundance Film Festival, where it will be on display at Celebrating Sundance Institute: A Tribute to Founder Robert Redford, the Festival’s annual fundraiser on January 23rd, 2026. For those who don’t know, in addition to being a legendary actor, Robert Redford founded the Sundance Festival and Sundance Institute. He also starred in the Marvel Studios film Captain America: The Winter Soldier, so it’s especially fitting that Acura is teaming up with Redford’s foundation for the Avengers NSX auction.

Acura also announced that when the car is auctioned later this year, a guaranteed portion of the proceeds will go to the Sundance Institute. The auction winner will also have the opportunity to designate additional proceeds to the Sundance Institute. Additionally, the winner can direct the proceeds from the sale to a charity of their choice.

Acura House of Energy

If you happen to be attending the Sundance Film Festival this year, Acura will have a large activation called the Acura House of Energy, which will host a slate of film premieres, panels, live music performances, and interviews with A-list actors, writers, producers, and directors. The new ADX and MDX SUV’s will be on display alongside the action for attendees. There’s even going to be a USA Olympic Bobsled photo op and bobsled slot car races with the chance to win a Honda Motocompacto. Needless to say, I’m pretty bummed out I won’t be there, so if you can go, then win that bobsled race for me!

There is no exact date for the Avengers NSX Roadster auction as yet. I suspected it could take place around San Diego Comic-Con, which runs July 22nd through 26th, or during the D23 Expo Disney Fan event in August. I reached out to Acura, but the automaker is not yet ready to share further information. Though you can be sure I’ll keep following this story, stay tuned for updates.
