Just a few moments before writing this post the official Forza Support handle on twitter posted a statement that the use of the Confederate Flag will now fall under “notorious iconography” as defined in their “enforcement guidelines”.
This means it will not be allowed to be used in any capacity when players are creating custom decals and liveries on cars in Forza Motorsport or Forza Horizon games.
Players caught using the confederate flag will likely be banned from the game.

This move comes roughly a week after NASCAR finally made the move to officially ban the Confederate Flag from the sport on the heels of the Black Lives Matter movement and NASCAR driver Darrell “Bubba” Wallace Jr. spoke out about it.
NASCAR’s decision was met by protest by those who believe the Confederate flag is part of a “rebel” southern culture and shouldn’t be removed from the sport. Though considering that it was the flag of a Confederacy that fought for the right to keep slaves, it’s no secret why many Americans associate the Confederate flag with racism.
On a personal note, as a black man I am glad that Turn 10 Studios (developer of the Forza series) decided to make this move. The question could be asked why it wasn’t made earlier but for now I will count this as a win for all of us who see the confederate flag for what it is: a racist symbol.
Though that is my opinion and I am just one person. What do you think about this? Do you associate the confederate flag with racism? Do you see it differently? Do you agree or disagree with this decision?
If you want to have a respectful conversation about it I am more than willing to in the comments below or tweet to me at @MotorworldHype.com
