Hype: The Fate Of The Furious Trailer Carspotting (Video)

Yesterday the first official full trailer for “The Fate Of The Furious” AKA “Fast 8” AKA #F8 finally dropped after a massive live event in the middle of Times Square in New York.  By the time you read this the trailer would have already had millions of views across several channels and chances are at least someone you know has asked you about it by now.  If you actually haven’t seen it by now you can watch it below.  On first watch its easy to see there are a lot of different cars thrown at your eye balls in just three minutes.  We want to highlight some of the vehicles we can identify (and some we can’t) with a bit of good ol’ fashion carspotting.  Below you’ll see a few specific images that are clickable links to moments in the trailer to help you see what we see.  Join us, won’t you?

The Fate Of The Furious Trailer:

Dodge Challenger SRT widebody

Looks like FCA/Chrysler is once again paying the big bucks for product placement in a Fast And Furious movie.  The very first vehicle seen is a Dodge Challenger SRT with wide-ish fender flares.  In fact it seems that in this first scene shown the whole “family” are all driving identical Challengers with the exception of “Hobbs” who appears to be driving a large armored Jeep.

’71 Road Runner GTX vs Jaguar F Type, Bentley Continental, Corvette Stingray, Mercedes AMG GT, and a massive truck.

Spoiler alert, it appears that a major part of this film’s story has to do with Dom going rogue.  It looks like in this scene his family is trying to take him down but Dom’s Road Runner GTX seems to be too much for the combined tug-o-war efforts of 4 different cars and a giant truck of which we can’t tell the make or model.  Either way, its a pretty awesome stunt!

Dream garage!

OK, there are way too many cars in this shot to put into one title line.  Let’s see here…  Looks like we have a Top Secret widebody Toyota Supra, Porsche 911, Nissan GT-R, Bentley Continental, Widebody Honda S2000, McLaren 650S, Aston Martin Vantage, Rocket Bunny Toyota GT86, Ford Model T hot rod, Lamborghini Huracan, Rolls Royce Wraith, and at least one or two cars I can’t identify.  Whew, that’s a lot!  It also looks like a few of the cars in this shot show up in that same scene when the team is trying to take down Dom so I would venture to say this scene takes place before that face-off.

Rally Fighter, Tank, Treaded Dodge Ram Truck, and two mystery cars

In this shot our heroes are doing their best to escape from a freakin submarine!  They also happen to be driving on massive sheet of ice.  To help get traction we see a tank in action as well as a Dodge Ram truck with tank treads.  There is also a Local Motors Rally Fighter driven by the character “Letty” and then two cars that we can’t identify.  There is a white car that looks like it could be a Subaru but its hard to tell for sure here.  There is also another car that Dom is driving that has a pretty wide track but it is hard to tell what it is in this shot.

Dodge Challenger Hoonicorn?

Here is a closer shot of Dom’s mystery car that I mentioned above.  We still can’t tell for certain what this is but from this angle it looks like a classic Dodge that has been given the all-wheel-drive, widebody treatment similar to what Ken Block did with the “hoonicorn” Mustang.  It would make sense since this scene takes place in the freaking arctic.  While for now this car still technically remains a mystery for now, I’m sure we’ll get more info about it before the film releases next year.

Well there you have it, just a few of the cars we noticed in the new The Fate Of The Furious trailer.  Of the cars you saw, which one was your favorite?  Did you notice any cars we didn’t catch?  Let us know in the comments below or tweet to us @MotorworldHype.
