2026 Ford Mustang Dark Horse SC Coming This Summer
There’s a new horse in the stable. Ford has revealed the Mustang Dark Horse SC, a new high-performance model that slots between the Dark Horse and the Mustang GTD. Though, despite being a tick below the GTD, the Dark Horse SC shares at least a few bits with its supercar sibling.
The Darkest Dark Horse
The Mustang Dark Horse SC is now officially the spiciest pony car you can buy before springing for the bonkers GTD. That’s impressive considering what the Dark Horse Performance package already offers. To build a Mustang that is a cut above, the engineering team behind the Dark Horse SC shared notes—and parts—with the GTD team.
Though first, let’s talk about what sets the Dark Horse SC apart from the other models. For starters, the Dark Horse SC is wearing a new aero package that includes a new hood, carbon fiber venting, and a revised front fascia with a massive front air dam. Not only does the package give the Dark Horse SC a menacing new look, it also boosts aerodynamic performance over the Dark Horse Performance Package. In fact, Ford claims that the optional ducktail decklid spoiler that comes with the Dark Horse SC’s Track Pack increased efficiency by 10 percent without compromising weight or visibility.
The Track Pack also includes Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup2 R tires that are wrapped around carbon fiber wheels.
More Horses
Under the hood is a supercharged 5.2-liter V8 linked to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Ford won’t power numbers, but expect it to be north of 500 hp and 418 lb.-ft of torque, which is what the 5.0-liter Coyote engine from the current Dark Horse offers.
The Dark Horse SC should also be a bit lighter as well, thanks to forged links, a magnesium strut tower brace, and 3D printed titanium emblems for good measure. A variable traction control system is available to help drivers dial in power delivery, and for those times when you just wanna have fun, ESC can be completely deactivated.
Pricing and Release
Orders for the Mustang Dark Horse SC should open around the end of March 2026, with deliveries starting in the summer. The price is still unknown, but it wouldn’t be unreasonable to estimate a starting MSRP between $80k and $100k. A Dark Horse SC Special Edition will be available, but production numbers are unknown and will probably be completely sold out by the time you read this. In the meantime, do you think the Mustang Dark Horse SC is a worthy competitor to the Corvette ZR1? Let us know in the comments or on Threads.
