Forza Motorsport Is Not Dead Despite Reports

The Forza Motorsport series is still alive and well despite layoffs impacting a significant portion of the Turn 10 Studios developer team in early July. The studio has released an official statement confirming that the series intends to go on and even detailed a roadmap of Forza Motorsport updates coming in the near future. This goes against several stories that made the rounds which claimed that the series was effectively dead.

On August 8th, the following statement was posted to Forza Motorsport‘s Instagram page:

Dear Forza Community, we know many of you have questions about what’s next for the Forza franchise, and we appreciate the support of our incredible community. We wanted to assure players that Turn 10 and Playground Games will continue to support Forza Motorsport and Forza Horizon 5.

The statement ended with a link to Forza Motorsport‘s website revealing a new “Track Toys Tour” coming to the game’s campaign mode. The following post was a detailed community calendar for in-game events through the month of August. That’s not exactly a three-year roadmap, but it’s certainly a sign of life that’s likely welcomed among Forza fans.

There was even a trailer dropped today showcasing the return of Indy Cars to Forza Motorsport. Players can get the 2025 Chevy Indy Car and 2025 Honda Indy Car in-game right now.

We were skeptical of the initial reports due to being mostly based on secondhand information from a former employee who had left Turn 10 Studios nearly a decade prior. Despite what that person may have heard from folks still employed at the developer, for now it looks like Turn 10 Studios intends to press on with Forza Motorsport.

Regardless, the future of the series is bound to look different. What kind of impact will a smaller team have on development of the next Motorsport game? How will it affect the next Forza Horizon game? In light of the recent statement some commenters suggested that Forza Motorsport and Forza Horizon should merge into one game. It seems like a wild idea, but could that be a possibility?

We’ll have to look very closely at the moves made by Turn 10 Studios, Playground Games, and Microsoft over the rest of the year going into 2026. The next 6 to 12 months will be pivotal for Forza Motorsports and the racing game landscape alike.
