Back From The Dead: SRT Brand Returns To Dodge, Ram, and Jeep

If you miss the days of ridiculously powered tri-star muscle variants then you might want to focus up. The SRT brand is coming back to Dodge, RAM, and Jeep. We repeat, SRT is back and we can already smell the parking lot car meet burnouts. Ressurection of the performance division was announced today by Stellantis in a press release that detailed some executive shuffling around, and other business-y boring stuff. We all know what the real news is here.

Though we should at least mention that RAM CEO Tim Kuniskis is tapped to lead Stellantis’ North American brands and marketing including SRT. “We’re getting the band back together,” said Kuniskis. “SRT is another box we needed to check as we head into a product launch cadence enabling more performance than we’ve ever seen before. We’re working with our product development and technology organization to select the best engineers in powertrain and vehicle dynamics to build a team worthy of the SRT name.”

For anyone paying attention, the timing of this announcement is nothing if not shrewd. Ardent Dodge, Ram, and Jeep fans were lamenting the slow death of the Hemi engine while Stellantis rolled out smaller displacement, boosted engines to replace the legendary V-8s. Then there was the lead up to the reveal of its Dodge Challenger Daytona EV muscle car which was about as well recieved as hot milk on a Lousiana summer’s day. Needless to say the fans were getting restless.

Reviving the SRT brand could be the brand boost needed to win back some of the fans Stellantis may have lost during recent events. The other half of that battle is following up this announcement with products worthy of the SRT badge. There have been no announcements in regard to what Dodge, Jeep, or RAM is cooking for their respective SRT models, but they need to be great or this whole initative could turn into fratzonic mess.
