LEGO Technic 2022 McLaren F1 Car Set Revealed
After a few, not-so-subtle teases the LEGO Technic 2022 McLaren F1 car set was revealed just before the team is set to debut its 2022 car. With hype for the 2022 F1 season ramping up, LEGO made the smart play by revealing this set now.
This is not the first time LEGO has produced an F1-based set but the plastic brick company claims that this is their most detailed F1 set ever. By the looks of it, we’re inclined to believe that.
Unlike the popular LEGO Speed Champions sets, LEGO Technic sets tend to be more complex and are targeted toward older LEGO fans.
Considering that the LEGO Technic 2022 McLaren F1 set is composed of over 1,400 individual pieces, it is not hard to believe a fair amount of detail went into its design. At first glance, it appears that many of the new 2022 car’s aerodynamic nuances come through even when rendered as plastic bricks.
While the set is based on the new 2022 McLaren F1 car, it is sporting the 2021 livery. Chances are McLaren wanted to keep that close to the vest for the reveal in a few days.
For added detail, the set also features a V6 engine with visible moving pistons, active suspension, working steering, a differential lock, and a manually adjustable DRS flap on the rear wing.
Obviously, out of fear of giving away any advantages, this LEGO set is not going to feature every aerodynamic feature that the real thing is likely to have. Though, we appreciate just how much McLaren allowed LEGO to do.

Both McLaren and LEGO released videos on their respective Instagram pages featuring Lando Noris and Daniel Ricciardo getting an up-close look at the set for themselves. They seemed impressed but they may be a bit biased.
