Since E3 was canceled this year I was unable to have my annual sit down with Forza Motorsport godfather Dan Greenawalt to talk about the future of the franchise.
One of my favorite things about talking with Dan is learning about just how complicated the code and systems of making a racing game can be. There is so much that we take for granted as players!
That being said, having someone on the inside who can pull back the curtain a little bit is always going to be interesting for me. I thought I wouldn’t get that this year; Luckily for me and the rest of us nerds, Dan filmed a piece with Ars Technica that dives deep into all things AI and Forza.
If you really want to get an idea of how the AI really works in Forza then this is definitely a video you want to watch. I’m certainly not a coder but Dan has a way of breaking down complex concepts to make it easier to understand. Along with Dan’s explanations, Ars Technica adds some visualization which makes things very digestible.
Additionally, Dan also talks about how he got his start in the industry and even talks about how the original Forza Motorsport was born.
