Hype: Nissan Enters Partnership With Lucasfilm To Promote Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
The first Iron Man movie pretty much turned me into a comic book nerd. So, it should be no surprise when I tell you that all the hype for Star Wars Episode VII totally pulled me in and turned me into a burgeoning Star Wars nerd as well. I accept it and I’ve made my peace with it. That is why I have absolutely no problem informing you that Nissan and Lucasfilm are entering a promotional partnership designed for the upcoming “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” film releasing in November of this year. I also have absolutely no problem telling you that I am pretty damn excited about it.
Here’s the thing though, I really hope they go about this the right way. Move/Automotive cross-promotions aren’t new but honestly of late, they have been pretty disappointing. Remember Jeep Liberty Batman v Superman edition? All they did was slap a cheap emblem on the back, black out the wheels, and call it a “special edition”. I’m really hoping Nissan and Lucasfilm don’t go that route.
They haven’t completely disclosed the details of the partnership so I’m not sure what exactly will come of it but I’m expecting something special. When it comes to Star Wars, Lucasfilm doesn’t mess around when it comes to the words “limited edition”.
While nothing official has been announced yet I’m thinking that a special edition Nissan Rogue may be in order. I mean a car called a “Rogue” used to promote a film called “Rogue One”, how could they not right?
In a perfect world the Rogue will be themed after an AT-AT. Oh, and when I say “themed” I mean really “themed”! I want to be AT-AT colored with empire insignia, a totally decked out interior, the whole nine!
Maybe they’ll really go crazy and create a “death trooper” themed 370Z or a “storm trooper” themed GT-R? Okay, maybe that is a bit too much. Either way I’m going to follow this and see if I can figure out what Nissan and Lucasfilm will be up to. By the way there are four other major brands entering similar partnerships with Lucasfilm as well. If you want to know more about that just check out the press release below.
