Hype: Great Scott! The DeLorean Is Going Back To The Production Line!

OK, this gets the award for coolest and craziest news story of the day.  In an interview with a local Texas radio station the current CEO of DeLorean Motor Company Stephen Wynne announced that the car made famous for its role in the Back To The Future films will be going back into production for an extremely limited run.  The company has enough parts in their warehouse to build 300 more cars from scratch.  Wynne didn’t say how much the cars would cost exactly but that they would be “less than $100,000”.

Considering how rabid the DeLorean restoration community is I am sure they will easily find 300 people who would be willing to buy a brand new all-original DeLorean built straight from the factory.  The cars will go on sale in 2017 and be based off the 1982 model.

Would you pay $100k (or just under that amount) for a brand-new freshly built DeLorean?  Let us know in the comments or tweet to us at @MotorworldHype.
