It was just last week that I told you that the indie game Drift Stage launched a Kickstarter campaign with a $30k goal. Well, in just 4 days not only did they reach that goal but they have surpassed it by an extra $7,467! As of the writing of this post the campaign has reached $37,467 from 1,601 backers. All this and the campaign still has 24 days to go! There is a realistic chance that the team at Super Systems Softworks may double or even triple their original kickstarter goal. My personal hope is that they end up with enough cash to port Drift Stage to platforms like Xbox One, PS4, and Vita via digital distribution (Xbox Live Arcade, Playstation Network, etc).
Although there has been no specific mention of that or mention of any stretch goals on the Drift Stage kickstarter page. The lack of stretch goals seems to suggest the 3 man team was definitely not expecting this kind of support. Hopefully now that they know that there is a definite demand for this game they will make adjustments to their plans so that more people can easily get their hands on it.
I have played the demo and I have to say that I was pretty impressed. The game’s physics instantly reminded me of games like ridge racer 4 and outrun but with a little more control. Its not perfect but for an early build demo it was definitely very close to a good sweet spot.
