Formula Drift Hype: This Is Ken Gushi’s 2012 Scion Racing FR-S Drift Car

Just moments ago Scion released the official pictures of Ken Gushi’s Scion Racing 2013 FR-S drift car that the young driver will campaign in the 2012 Formula Drift season.  Gushi’s new weapon was put together by the mechcanical wizards at GReddy Performance with support from Scion Racing, Hankook Tires, and shoes (wheels) provided by Rays Engineering.  Technical specs on Gushi’s FR-S have yet to be released but Scion does say in the press release (view below) that the FR-S drift car makes 600hp.  I can only assume the engine has been strongly reinforced and boosted to the edge of the universe and back.  I am looking forward to seeing the beast navigate its way between the walls at Long Beach this year!

Press Release:

Detroit – January 9, 2012 – Scion today unveiled its Scion Racing/GReddy FR-S race car during a press conference at the 2012 North American International Auto Show. The FR-S will be competing in the 2012 Formula DRIFT series with veteran driver Ken Gushi behind the wheel.

The 600-horsepower FR-S race car is the result of a collaboration between Scion Racing and GReddy, a performance-products company that has been involved with Toyota and racing for over twenty years.

The race car is inspired by the 2013 Scion FR-S, a compact rear-wheel-drive sports car that will go on sale in the spring of 2012. The high-performance coupe is the fifth model to join the Scion family.
