Apple’s iPhone 8 And iPhone X Could Finally Make In-Car Wireless Charging Mainstream

Just a few short hours ago Apple announced the new iPhone 8 and the $1,000 iPhone X (ten).

In typical Apple fashion these new phones have tons of new features that their predecessors don’t but one that stood out to me was the addition of wireless charging.

Now, wireless charging for smartphones has been around for a long time.  Though for whatever reason Apple hasn’t brought it to their iPhones until now.

As we all know, despite a specific smartphone feature being around for years prior, it doesn’t really become part of the “mainstream” until Apple adopts it on their trendy phones.

Apple knows this too as they mentioned it themselves speaking of all the ways wireless charging can be integrated into daily life like into tables at coffee shops or specifically, in cars.

Wireless smartphone charging is already available in a few cars now but for the most part they’re features on high end luxury cars like the BMW in the picture above.

Though, with all new iPhones now being a equipped with wireless charging I wonder how long it will be before we see the feature implemented in to economy and mid-range cars as a selling point to attract iPhone owners?

I guess we’ll have to wait until next year to find out for certain.  In the meantime, we’ll probably see a flood of wireless charging-friendly accessories flood the market.

What do you think about this?  Do you want wireless charging as a standard option in your car?  Let us know your thoughts in the comments below or tweet to us at @MotorworldHype
