SEMA 2016: Bisimoto Building 1040 HP Hyundai Santa Fe

If we’ve learned anything from Bisimoto’s past adventures its that they will add ignorant amounts of horsepower to just about any wheeled vehicle presented to them.  I wouldn’t be surprised if they have a pair of 600hp roller blades somewhere in their shop.  So, really the fact that they are working on a 1,000+ horsepower Hyundai Santa Fe crossover SUV shouldn’t be shocking to me at all; yet it is!

Bisimoto isn’t stopping at just making power either.  They are also tackling the drivetrain by converting the Santa Fe (dubbed the “Santa Fast”) to rear-wheel-drive!  A 1,040 horsepower, RWD converted Hyundai crossover SUV is just the kind of project that makes SEMA what it is and I can’t wait to get a better look at it.  Well, a better look under the hood I should say.

Exterior-wise Bisi’s “Santa Fast” doesn’t have much going on besides a full vehicle wrap, custom front grill, and some Fifteen52 wheels.  Don’t get me wrong though, all of those things go together very well but I think its safe to say the real story here are all the mechanical mods.  For a full parts list of the Bisimoto “Santa Fast” check out the press release below.  For a better look at the official rendering created by Jon Sibal, just click the thumbnail below as well.

Press Release:

FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., Sept. 28, 2016 – Hyundai Motor America and Bisimoto have again partnered for the SEMA show, this time developing a 1,040 horsepower, rear-drive “Santa-Fast” SUV. Bisimoto is well-renowned for awe-inspiring street, show and race vehicles. With no fear of the unknown, Bisimoto is always on the cutting edge of automotive technology, and the Bisimoto “Santa Fast” Santa Fe is no exception, pumping out the power from a flex-fuel turbocharged, Hyundai-based 3.8L Lambda V6 powerplant making reliable power, positioned longitudinally and driving the rear wheels.

“Bisimoto takes pleasure in making any vehicle fun to drive, even a larger SUV,” said ‘Bisi Ezerioha, owner of Bisimoto. “Our Santa-Fast SUV is a proof-of-concept vehicle with driving capabilities that our customers can count on every day they turn the key.” The Bisimoto team worked exhaustingly on the custom rear-drive and six-speed manual transmission conversions to achieve an OEM-like appearance and function. Full boost for the powertrain is 39 psi, and a boost-per-gear protocol is used to allow for optimal traction.
