Just a short while ago Ken Block debuted Gymkhana EIGHT at YouTube Spaces in LA. In Block’s latest Gymkhana adventure he and his Hoonigan crew flew across the ocean to Dubai with his Ford Fiesta RX43 Gymkhana-ready rally car and slayed tires all over the land known as the playground for the rich and famous. Block takes his Fiesta to pretty much every notable spot in Dubai and even has participation from some of its exotic car owning citizens and its police force (who has a fleet of exotic cars all to their own). Like the Gymkhana videos before it, Gymkhana EIGHT is loud, fast, and has more than a few “how did they do that” camera shots. Though, one has to wonder, is it better than the last one? In my opinion, not really. Don’t get me wrong, this video is awesome but it doesn’t quite have the shocking stunt moments that Gymkhana SEVEN had. It comes close when Ken meets up with a Ford Raptor (you’ll see what I mean) but it still just doesn’t quite have the same punch.
What this video does have is beautiful sprawling cinematic shots of Dubai and all of its great landmarks. A growing trend with Block’s Gymkhana videos is that the locations he chooses become just as much of a character as he is and Dubai doesn’t disappoint. Its a place that was made to be filmed and the Gymkhana EIGHT camera crew took full advantage of the situation, placing GoPros every where that one could fit but only selecting the best angles. There is also plenty of aerial shots that may seem like they come from a drone at first but by the end of the video you’ll learn its all legit helicopter work.
Anyway I’ve talked enough about it. I think its best if you just watch it for yourself below and then let us know what you think of it in the comments or tweet to us at @MotorworldHype.
