In this edition of “SPOTTED” we take a look at this bad-ass Saleen S7 I came across in the car corral at the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach. This was only the second time I’ve ever been in the presence of a Saleen S7 and the first time I’ve seen one blacked out the way this one is. Personally, I love this car but I know it can be polarizing between other enthusiasts. Some are like me and love it while others write it off as an American McLaren F1 knock-off. Based on its looks I could understand why some would peg it as a McLaren F1 clone but hey it was Saleen who decided to drop in a twin-turbo V8 in their car years before McLaren did the same with their new MP4-12C. So, you gotta give them some credit for that right? If nothing else I credit the S7 for trying to be the first real American “supercar” that could run with the likes of Lamborghini, Ferrari, Porsche, and even McLaren. God bless the USA!
