Wheel designs as with all things evolve over time. While I tend to cling towards classic styles I do wonder where wheel design will go in the future. I think FIVE: AD is a pretty good indicator of things to come when our kids are shopping for wheels. In case you’re wondering the “AD” is for Axis Designs. All of the FIVE: AD wheels were designed by famed concept car builder Troy Sumitomo from Five Axis.
The wheel you see above is their S5-F wheel which is a whole new take on the split 5 spoke style. I know it looks a bit dramatic but if you’re iffy about how it works in practice check out the 350Z sporting them in the picture below. I think you’ll agree that its pretty clean.
