Cosworth Omega Dash Display

Posted on 11.16.09 | Andrew Beckford No Comments

I spotted this at SEMA and it was instantly one of my favorite products on the show floor.  What you’re looking at is Cosworth’s newest performance gadget dubbed the “Omega.”  How freakin’ cool is that?  Even the name is serious!  The Omega plugs into the Cosworth ECPro stand alone unit and can show the user virtually every stat that has a sensor attached to it.  This is definitely a slick unit and I’m not the only one who thinks so.  The Omega display won the Global Media Award at SEMA.  That basically means that Journalists from all over the world who were at the show picked this as their favorite product.  That’s pretty boss..

SEMA 2009: Tjin Edition 2010 Chevy Camaro

Posted on 11.11.09 | Andrew Beckford No Comments

Neil Tjin’s 2010 Chevy Camaro was easily among the top 5 overall best in the show.  In fact General Motors gave this car the award for “best GM” on the show floor and that is saying A LOT because there were some top notch GM’s there.  Neil’s style has really come along way from his S14 from way back when to now although some things remain the same in his creation, such as the pin striping and the use of 3-piece forged wheels (iForged on the Camaro).  It also seems like he hasn’t gotten tired of the color green yet.  I’d bet many people winced when he told them he was going to build a green Camaro but looking at the finished product I don’t think he could have chosen a better color.  Nice work Mr. Tjin!

SEMA 2009: AEM Intercooler For Hyundai Genesis Coupe 2.0

Posted on 11.10.09 | Andrew Beckford No Comments

This is one of the few parts that really caught my eye when I was walking the SEMA show floor.  It looks like AEM is getting into the intercooler business and their first offering being a OEM replacement for the Hyundai Geneis Coupe 2.0 intercooler.  Users won’t need to make any modifications to get the intercooler to fit and according to AEM it makes an extra 12HP which is pretty freakin’ good!  So far there isn’t any word on an MSRP or release date yet but we’ll keep you posted.

SEMA 2009: Brandon Leung’s Scion xB Truck

Posted on 11.09.09 | Andrew Beckford No Comments

Once again Scion held their SEMA “Tuner Challenge.”  This year thecanvas presented to the participants were xB’s instead of tC’s.  I saw all four at the show and I think Brandon Leung’s (from BOWLS LA) take on the xB was by far the most unique.  I’m not sure you can even call this an xB anymore since it now has a truck bed which is outfitted to tote around a Honda Ruckus moped.  The split pea soup paint, hot rod mirrors, and lead sled wheels really set it apart from the others.  This iteration of the xB was a strong contender for the win.

SEMA 2009: RM460 Hyundai Genesis Coupe

Posted on 11.09.09 | Andrew Beckford No Comments

You’ve probably seen this a few places already but here it is on MotorworldHype shot with our own camera.  The RM460 Hyundai Genesis Coupe was the first car I approached when I stepped foot on the SEMA show floor for the first time.  I have to say Rhys’ take on the Genesis coupe is pretty impressive up close.  The only gripe I had is the front bumper.  Something about the shape just puts me off, but apart from that this car is pretty close to pure awesome.  The big bad Tau V8 in the back is just begging to be revved but so far we don’t have any video of it in action yet.  But with SEMA all wrapped up I think we can expect some road test footage soon.  We’ll try to keep you posted.

SEMA 2009: Falken Tire Builds Ford Flex

Posted on 11.04.09 | Brian Khou No Comments

Yes, we’re a bit late on the SEMA stuff but we’ve actually been getting ready to head out there ourselves.  We will have full coverage of Thursday and Friday straight from the show floor.  In the meantime check out this Ford Flex built by Falken Tire.  I’ve always been a fan of the Flex and getting a glimpse at Falken’s take on it makes us want one even more!  Check out the press release below.

Press Release:

FALKEN TIRE TEAMS UP WITH FORD AND AUTOFASION TO BUILD AWARD WINNING FORD FLEX

FONTANA, CA (November 4, 2009) - Breaking the mold of cookie-cutter project vehicles on oversized chrome rims, Falken Tire envisioned the perfect blend of traditional “Lowrider” styling and a 2010 platform while utilizing today’s finest full-size CUV, the Ford Flex. Rolling on 22″ Falken S/TZ04 tires and wire spoke Dayton wheels, this project was set to earn the respect of old school purists to new-age tuners.

Exterior modifications include a full PPG Paint color change, subtle silver leaf and pinstripe graphics and GT Factory rear suicide doors. The 3d Carbon aero treatment lays low when the Airrunner suspension drops and a low rumble is delivered through Magnaflow’s SS cat-back exhaust system. Other mods include an ACS sliding rag-top, Alpine audio and video components, Playstation 3, Metra audio wiring and custom printed paisley interior featuring the Falken “F” logo and the distinctive clown logo created by the renowned photographer and director Estevan Oriol.

With the car completed just in time and delivered to Ford’s booth at the SEMA Convention earlier this week, things got even better when the Falken Flex was awarded a Special Recognition Award for Outstanding Achievement in Design.

“Falken Tire would like to thank all of our collaborative partners, Ford Motor Company and especially our builder, Autofashion based in San Diego, CA, for helping make this concept a reality” states Nick Fousekis, Falken’s Sr. Manager of Consumer Marketing. “Expect to see much more of the Falken Tire Ford Flex over the next 12 months through an aggressive promotional program and collaborations with the who’s who in the lowrider and hip-hop scene.”

Falken Tire Corporation,a part of the Sumitomo Rubber Group, is based in Fontana, CA and is a manufacturer of Falken branded High Performance and Ultra High Performance passenger tires, as well as Light Truck, SUV, and Ohtsu branded medium truck tires.  For more information, visit Falken Tire’s new website at www.falkentire.com.

I didn’t see the press release on this until wayyy too late, and it cost me a NOS cooler!  Oh well, you guys need to know about this anyway.  NOS Energy Drink, Automotive Film Master Will Roegge, and Speedhunters.com all collab’d together to create a short film documenting Chris Forsberg’s 2009 Championship season in Formula D.  The film will make its official debut at SEMA but it will also go live on NOS Energy Drink’s website and on Speedhunters.com on November 4th.

Tjin Edition Camaro

Posted on 10.29.09 | Andrew Beckford No Comments

Check it out, UrbanRacer.comhas a preview of what Neil Tjin is building for SEMA this year.  If the final product looks anything like the rendering then it I think this will get a lot of attention on the show floor.  I look forward to seeing it in person at the show!  What do you guys think of it?

Hype Preview: Enkei PF01

Posted on 10.14.09 | Andrew Beckford No Comments

A little while ago Enkei dropped a teaser image of a new wheel dubbed the PF01 that will make its debut at this year’s SEMA.  According to Enkei the new PF01 will be “ultra-lightweight” and will actually come in less than the RPF1 on the scales.  We’ll try to keep you posted on this until it makes it’s official drop on November 2nd.  If the front looks anywhere near as good as the back then this wheel is going to blow up big.

Hype Video: Rhys Millen’s New Hyundai Project

Posted on 09.16.09 | Andrew Beckford No Comments

Between having a kid, running a drift team, and setting records at Pike’s Peak, it seems that Rhys Millen and his team have also been wrenching away in their Huntington Beach shop on a new SEMA project.  Not too much is known yet except there its another Hyundai Genesis Coupe with a V8 engine….in the back.  You read right.  Intrepid reporter and music lover Bill Woodcaught up with Rhys to get a walkthrough of the project.  Check out the video below, its a great way to spend 5 minutes!
