Yesterday, he good folks from the Long Beach Grand Prix Association and Formula Drift were kind enough to invite me out to their official media day for the Toyota Pro Celebrity race and Formula Drift Round 1. Just the chance to see the new Scion FR-S Pro-Celebrity race cars was worth getting out of bed early and sitting in 710 south traffic.
The whole day was all about getting to know this year’s participants in the Toyota Pro Celebrity Race as well as getting an early peek at some of the new drift cars for the 2013 Formula Drift season. There was tons of on-track action on both sides as well as ride-a-longs. I have a few shots below but for the full gallery check out our facebook page.
Mother’s Day, the release of the Avengers, the Indy 500, and my birthday all happen in the only three lettered month of the year which make’s May very, important. Today Turn 10 Studios just gave us another reason to look forward to next month as that is when the Top Gear DLC pack will be released on Xbox live! Cool right?! Unfortunately there are no two-engined limos or amphibious RVs in the 10 car pack but we do get the hopelessly fast Hennesy Venom GT and the immense awesomness of the Ford Transit Van! Yes the transit is finally coming to Forza! Can you imagine playing Top Gear soccer with that? You won’t have to imagine much longer as the Top Gear pack comes out on May 1st for 560 Microsoft Points AKA 7 bucks. Scroll below for the full car list and official trailer
During the whirlwind of motorsports madness that is the Toyota Grand Prix Of Long Beach weekend I actually managed to get a few minutes with Top Gear USA host Rutledge Wood. This year was the first time he got to participate in the Toyota Pro-Celebrity Race for chairty against the likes of Adam Carolla (who won the race), Fredric Aasbo, and UFC bad-ass Cain Velasquez. In the short interview below I get his post-race impressions and some new (but vague) info on Top Gear USA season 3! Check it out below.
Today the Toyota Grand Prix Of Long Beach released the list of participants in this year’s Toyota Pro Celebrity Race and among the combatants is Top Gear USA host Rutledge Wood. You heard right, good ol’ Rut will take part in what some people refer to as “celebrity pinball” as television, movie, and music stars try to keep their Scion tCs (and themselves) in one piece as they run 10 laps around the grand prix street circuit. Rutledge will have to fend off other contenders such as Adrain Brody, reality star Brody Jenner, and even a few pro drivers like Fredric Aasbo from Formula Drift and USAC Champion Bryan Clauson. Will some coaching from the Stig help Rutledge take down all comers and earn a first place finish for Top Gear USA? We will have to wait until race day April 14th. I will be track side capturing the action!
