Wheel Hype: Volk Racing TE37 Tokyo Time Attack “Progressive Model”

Posted on 09.05.12 | Andrew Beckford No Comments

I just saw a sneak peek via Mackin Industries twitter feed at yet another new TE37 variation.  As the post title suggests it is dubbed the “Tokyo Time Attack- Progressive Model”.  It might be hard to tell in the picture but one of the first big differences with this new TE37 is that instead of the iconic sticker the Volk Racing logo is now engraved into the spoke.  Since moving/removing/changing the sticker is popular with some TE37 owners, the engraved spoke may not be great news.  For those who like the original TE37 sticker but are tired of having to replace it after it peels/fades then the engraved spoke is awesome news!  Personally, I think it looks fresh.  Click the thumbnail below for a larger pic.

Since this was just a sneak peek I have no information on pricing, weight, or release date but I imagine all of that will be public soon.  You might want to follow Mackin Industries to make sure you get the scoop ASAP.

Wheel Hype: Volk Racing TE37 Super Lap “Black Edition” (Preview)

Posted on 06.19.12 | Andrew Beckford No Comments

The TE37 has been around for a few decades now and no matter what Rays Engineering/Volk Racing does to it, they still have not found a way to make this wheel look ugly.  It is just not possible!  Anyhow Evasive Motorsports got a preview of the newest color variation on the TE37SL or “Super Laps”.  The TE37SL “Black Edition” will feature a “pressed black” finish and two “luminous” wheel spoke decals.  Not sure if by “luminous” they mean the decals would glow in the dark, but it would be pretty damn fresh if they did!  So far there has been no MSRP or production numbers announced but Evasive says the wheels should be available sometime in October of this year.  If you want a set you should give them a call.  If they like you they might let you pre-order a set.

Wheel Hype: Volk AECROS “ECO Drive” Series

Posted on 10.19.11 | Andrew Beckford No Comments

It has been a while since we’ve had some good wheel hype here.  Allow me to end the drought and present to you the new AECROS wheel from Volk.  The AECROS wheel is a part of Volk’s new “ECO Drive” series targeted at eco-friendly performance vehicles like the Honda CR-Z.  The AECROS is forged and weighs in at a scant 15.4lbs per wheel so you definitely wont hurt your fuel economy with a bunch of added weight.  However, the most important part about the AECROS is that it looks F’ing FRESH!  It is nice to see that despite being targeted for the tree huggers Volk did not dumb down their design for this wheel.  While they look great on a CR-Z these wheels would probably look great on just about anything!

Posted on 09.26.11 | admin No Comments

RAYS Engineering in Japan recently rolled out a production runof the TE37SL (Super Lap) in a special edition gloss white color straight from the factory.  The guys at Evasive Motorsports put in an order for sizes specific to the Mitsubishi Evo X (18×10.5 +15).  So if you are an Evo driver you may want to jump on this ASAP.  Note: because of the aggressive size if your Evo X is lowered you might need to roll your fenders to fit these bad boys on.  A set of four will set you back just over $3k.
