Hype Collab: Transformers x A Bathing Ape 2013 Capsule Collection Shirt

Posted on 03.29.13 | Andrew Beckford No Comments

Remember the BAPE Camo Optimus Prime toy I showed you a little while ago?  Well A Bathing Ape is following that up with a limited edition 2013 Capsule Collection Optimus Prime shirt!  Its bad-ass and adorable all at the same time and  I want it!  Unfortunately, just like the toy, the shirt will only be sold at the BAPE flagship store in Harajuku, Japan.

So unless you are already in Japan or just happen to be getting on a plane tonight you probably won’t get your hands on one of these unless you find someone flipping them on eBay.  By then I would expect paying much more than its original $76 price tag.

Movie Hype: Mark Whalberg To Star In Transformers 4 Movie. Official Movie Logo Revealed

Posted on 11.09.12 | Andrew Beckford No Comments

Back in Feburary I told you that Michael Bay not only confirmed there would be a Transformers 4 movie, but that there would be practically no human cast and the film would be all about the bots.  After hearing that news I actually thought there might be some promise for the next film with no hammy, over the top actor performances to muck things up.  Well, it looks like I might have got hopeful too soon.

See, at first it was true that there would be no actual human actors in the next flick, but it turned out that Michael Bay started a full on BROmance with Mark Whalberg while filming the film “Pain & Gain”.  In fact he loves his new BFF so much that he changed his mind and decided to give Mark “Say hello to your mother for me” Whalberg a starring role in Transfomers 4.

On his blog Bay makes sure to say that the story is still in its very early stages so Mr. Whalberg did not necessarily need to be written in to an already locked in script.  I guess that makes sense since so far there are absolutely zero details known about what the story of the fourth film will be.

I just hope to god its better than the third…

Hype Collab: illest x Transformers Collection Drops In Two Days

Posted on 09.21.12 | Andrew Beckford No Comments

A while back I gave you a preview of the Transformers collab illest announced at comic-con earlier this year; well the drop date is almost at hand!  In just two more days (Sept. 23rd) the illest x Transformers line officially drops at their San Francisco and Los Angeles stores.  The collection is split into two “phases”.  Phase One which is what will drop on the 23rd is inspired by the Transformers Fall of Cybertron video game.  As an added bonus, the first 10 people in line at either of the locations on launch day will get a free copy of the game.  There will also be giveaways, DJs, and food trucks on hand to appease the masses as they wait for their gear.

Next month (October 27th 2012), “Phase two” will launch.  The second phase of the collection is based on the classic “Gen 1” Transformers that we grew up with and loved in the 80s.  One piece of the collection will feature Porsche Autobot Jazz in a green colorway inspired by Mark Arcneal’s RWB Pandora One!  I can imagine that phase one is going to sell out quickly since it will be limited so I would suggest that if you live in northern or southern California you wake up bright and early this Sunday and grab a spot in line at one of the flagship illest stores for the drop!  Head to illestBrand.com for all the info.

Press Release:

San Francisco, Calif – September 21, 2012 – ILLEST and Hasbro announced that they have teamed up to create custom co-branded t-shirts featuring the TRANSFORMERS brand. The product release will be divided into two phases beginning on September 23, 2012 at select retailers and ILLEST flagship stores.

The special edition ILLEST x TRANSFORMERS line of t-shirts will debut in the Fall, beginning with the launch of FALL OF CYBERTRON, that coincides with the acclaimed new video game of the same name from Activision. The FALL OF CYBERTRON t-shirts feature TRANSFORMERS designs inspired by “Cybertronian” renderings of AUTOBOTS and DECEPTICONS featured in the game. This collection will be made available September 23, 2012 to select ILLEST retailers as well as the ILLEST flagship stores located in Los Angeles and San Francisco.  To celebrate, ILLEST flagship locations will have special TRANSFORMERS branded giveaways, a DJ, food trucks and more.  The first 10 customers will receive the FALL OF CYBERTON game.

Phase 2, an Original Art collection of t-shirts, encompasses the mighty AUTOBOTS and vintage brand artwork. ILLEST and respected Japanese tuning house, RWB (Rauh-welt Begriff), will be saluting the popular AUTOBOT character, AUTOBOT JAZZ, with a new green colorway inspired by RWB’s Pandora One. The Original Art collection will be made available October 27, 2012 to select retailers as well as ILLEST flagship stores.

Hype Collab: Fatlace Announces Transformers x Illest Apparel At San Diego Comic-Con

Posted on 07.12.12 | Andrew Beckford No Comments

When Fatlace apparel comes to mind most would envision their urban chic style and some of their loosely automotive themed designs but one of the last things that would come to mind are giant robots from space that turn into cars, until now!  Today at the dawn of Comic Con 2012 Fatlace has announced an apparel collaboration with Hasbro that will have your favorite Transfomers sharing shirt space with the illest logo.  I personally think illest design sense paired with the transformers should make for some pretty fresh apparel.  According to the press release the collaboration will go beyond shirts to “keychains and everything in between”.

Movie Hype: Michael Bay Confirms “Transformers 4” Is Coming In 2014

Posted on 02.15.12 | Andrew Beckford No Comments

Today in an announcement that made half the world shudder and the other half excited, the infamous Michael Bay confirmed on his own websitethat he has just signed a deal with Paramount Pictures to direct a fourth “Transformers” movie.  As soon as he is done with a film starring Mark Walberg and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson he will begin work on the next adventure staring Optimus Prime and Bumblebee.

It is unlikely that any of the human cast, namely Shia La Bouf will return.  So if you are a fan of Shia (or you hate him) this could be good news either way (depending on how much you love Michael Bay’s films).

There is no news on if the writers from the first three films will return or what the plot of the next film will be.  However, if Michael is smart he will look to the success of Transformers video games such as “War On Cybertron” and take the story back to the Autobot’s home planet.

What do you guys think of this story?  Are you excited for another Transformers flick or does this news make you want to scoop your own eyes out?  Feel free to express yourself in the comments.
