SEMA 2014: Tjin Edition Fit Is The Fan Favorite Of The Honda Booth

Posted on 11.05.14 | Andrew Beckford No Comments

If anyone takes a stroll over to the Honda Booth at the SEMA show right now they will find a fleet of 2015 Honda Fits, all with different looks and themes but the official “Fan Favorite” is the Tjin Edition fit co-designed by Neil Tjin and his daughter Kylie.  The father and daughter team wanted to create something that reflected their family so a bit of everything is represented here.  A lot of the exterior is influenced by Papa Tjin; especially the Axalta green paint and the custom metal wide fender flares.  Kylie was insistent that the brake calipers were hot pink and it looks like Neil wasn’t about to tell his little girl no.  Which was a good choice because the pink and green actually go together nicely.  In front of the pink brakes are custom iForged wheels wrapped in Falken Tires.  Inside has a full Sony car audio system and in the trunk is a special basketball caddy designed for his future NBA star son Collin.  The Fit gets its stance from an Airrex hybrid suspension which is partly why there is so much tire tuck.

SEMA 2010 Preview: aLL STaR Chevy Camaro

Posted on 10.19.10 | Andrew Beckford No Comments

The Tjin family is producing another hot Camaro for SEMA this year only this time instead of Neil “The Ninja” at the helm its his brother Gene “Don’t Call Me Napolean Dynamite” Tjin at the helm.  Despite my close ties with the family I couldn’t get too many details about what else they have in store for Gene’s Camaro but I would assume some type of boost will be on hand.  If you’re feeling the exterior of this car as much as I am you can head over to the Chevy SEMA facebook page and vote for this car to win best Camaro.  If you click the thumbnail below you can get a wallpaper sized version of the pic so you can rep Gene’s Camaro on your desktop.

Press Release:

September 8th, 2010 Laguna Niguel, CA – Tjin Edition continues to push the envelope and step outside the box with their latest project, a brand new 2011 Ford Mustang 5.0 GT. Over the past 7 years, Tjin Edition has partnered with some of the top OEM manufacturers in the world including Chevy, Pontiac, Scion, and Honda; this year for the first time ever Tjin Edition will be joining forces with Ford Motor Company.

Tjin Edition led by Neil, Mei, Gene, and Collin Tjin along with Brian Garin and Mike Hyun from Real Auto Works in Long Beach, California will have their hands full as they are completely transforming a brand new black 2011 Ford Mustang 5.0 GT for this years SEMA show.

Tjin Edition teamed up with Josh Cloud from Gurnade Design Firm, and Cloud was put in charge of producing the rendering for the Tjin Edition Ford Mustang 5.0 GT. As with all Tjin Edition projects, the Mustang 5.0 GT will be completely stripped, gutted, and transformed into a truly impressive piece of automotive machinery. With the new 5.0 -V8 motor in place, it comes as no surprise that Tjin Edition has teamed up with Vortech Superchargers, MagnaFlow Exhaust, American Racing Headers, Nitrous Express and Royal Purple.

Besides the “GO” aspect of this build, this Tjin Edition Ford Mustang 5.0 GT will be sporting a custom DuPont Cromax Pro paint job, which will be handled by Luis Rodriguez from L&R Paint and Body in Orange, California. This one of a kind Mustang will also be outfitted with a Webasto sunroof, Unique Fabrication metal wing, Light WurkZ LED headlights and fog lights, Ignited HID’s, StreetGlow lighting, custom Third Shift Studio emblems, Trent Trick Upholstery bolts, and a custom designed Tjin Edition / Gurnade body kit, which will be produced by Extreme Dimensions.

The Tjin Edition Ford Mustang 5.0 GT suspension will be highly modified with a brand new, fully digital air suspension kit from Air Lift, and an Eibach anti-roll kit and trailing arms. The Mustang fenders will be tucking a custom set of brand new 20″ Forgestar

CF5 (Concave Forgestar 5-spoke) wheels, which are matched up to super wide Falken tires. Sitting nicely behind the Forgestar wheels are a massive set of front and rear Baer rotors and calipers, which will help this supercharged Ford Mustang stop on a dime.

Real Auto Works will be completely transforming the interior and audio set-up in the Mustang with a set of custom wrapped Status Racing seats and harnesses, Auto Meter Ford gauges, a STACK cluster, Innovative Motorsports 0T-2 unit, a AZENTEK smart mirror, a Recaro baby seat, Scosche wiring, Optima batteries, a Metra double-din trim panel, a Pioneer head-unit, and Image Dynamic speakers, subs, and amplifiers.

SEMA 2009: Tjin Edition 2010 Chevy Camaro

Posted on 11.11.09 | Andrew Beckford No Comments

Neil Tjin’s 2010 Chevy Camaro was easily among the top 5 overall best in the show.  In fact General Motors gave this car the award for “best GM” on the show floor and that is saying A LOT because there were some top notch GM’s there.  Neil’s style has really come along way from his S14 from way back when to now although some things remain the same in his creation, such as the pin striping and the use of 3-piece forged wheels (iForged on the Camaro).  It also seems like he hasn’t gotten tired of the color green yet.  I’d bet many people winced when he told them he was going to build a green Camaro but looking at the finished product I don’t think he could have chosen a better color.  Nice work Mr. Tjin!

Check it out, UrbanRacer.comhas a preview of what Neil Tjin is building for SEMA this year.  If the final product looks anything like the rendering then it I think this will get a lot of attention on the show floor.  I look forward to seeing it in person at the show!  What do you guys think of it?

One Lug Wheels OLW1

Posted on 04.14.09 | Andrew Beckford No Comments

This wheel brand has been around for a while now.  Its called “One Lug Wheels” and as the name suggests they’re engineered to give a race-inspired one lug look.  They have several styles with a one lug design and they’re all pretty hot.  The wheel above is the OLW1 which is a forged five-spoke multi-piece design that would be at home on more than a few types of makes and models.
