@GReddy_Power 33F Intercooler Kit For Mitsubishi Evo X

Posted on 01.05.11 | Andrew Beckford No Comments

If you have a turbocharged car one of the best ways to pick up a few extra horses and make things easier on your turbo is to upgrade your intercooler.  GReddy has a pretty good history with intercooler upgrades so if you’re rocking an Evo X I’d reccomend their 33F intercooler kit.  It’s wider than stock and has bigger inlet and outlet end tanks (70mm).  Besides the added performance it just looks fresh behind the front bumper!

Hype Collab: Cosworth x Borg Warner EFR Turbocharger Kits

Posted on 10.22.10 | Andrew Beckford No Comments

In a secret bunker at an undisclosed location engineers from Cosworth USA and Borg Warner have been working together to develop turbocharger upgrade kits for the WRX STi and Mitsubishi Evo X.  It looks like a ton of R&D has gone into this initiative and according to Cosworth, these kits may be capable of 1000HP outputs!  Expect to see the new turbo “set up” kits available for sale in the coming months.  I’ll also try to see if I can snag some more info about this at SEMA.

Hype Event Presented By Borla Exhaust: X Games 16 Super Rally Cross Day 1

Posted on 07.31.10 | Andrew Beckford No Comments

X Games is back in town and the entire local automotive culture has gone Rally crazy.  There are a few big changes to the Rally event this year versus previous years.  The biggest change is the new “Super Rally Cross” format.  Before the X Games used a “Super Stage” style in which two cars would run at the same time but on their own set course trying to beat their rival’s time to move on to the next battle.  The “Super Rally Cross” format takes the old style but shakes it up by having 4 cars run at the same time…on the same course!  Yet they’re still racing the clock more than each other.

However, they have to battle each other for the fastest line through a corner.  If that wasn’t crazy enough, they’ve also introduced the “Joker Lane”  The Joker Lane is a longer route around the track but it also includes the infamous “gap jump”.  Now, a driver can use any lap of the race to take the Joker lane but each driver MUST use the lane at least once per race.  This adds a whole new level of excitement as well as strategy for the drivers.  Will they get the Joker lane out of the way early? Or will they save it for the last lap?

Tune into the X Games on ESPN and ESPN HD TODAY to watch the action.  You can also stay tuned to Xgames.com or right here on MotorworldHype.com as well as our twitter page @MotorworldHype to stay updated on the action.  Check out some practice pictures from Friday below and even more pictures in our gallery.

Ohlins Road And Track Coilovers For Mitsubishi Evo X

Posted on 05.19.10 | Andrew Beckford No Comments

Swedish suspension gods Ohlins who are mostly known for their top notch race-only suspension set ups have finally decided to release a line for street cars!  They call it the “Road And Track” line (hopefully there is no lawsuit pending) and as the name suggests these coilovers where designed for street and track double duty.  Pictured above is their package for the Mitsubishi Evo Xand it looks just as beefy as they’re track-only applications.  So far, I haven’t heard of the new Road And Track line being available here in the states but look for that to change soon.

SPOTTED: Flat White/Black/Carbon Mitsubishi Evo X @ XDC Irwindale

Posted on 03.23.10 | Andrew Beckford No Comments

On the way out of XDC Irwindale over the weekend I spotted this flat white Mitsubishi Evo X in the Fujita booth.  Upon closer inspection I realized that the entire color scheme was a wrap! Even the carbon fiber roof!  It looks like the owner of this particular Evo got a jump on the new Wraptivo designer vinyl wrap product from Mequiars.  It is crazy how legit it looks when its applied correctly!  I have a feeling we’re going to see a lot more of the Wraptivo treatment in the future because this is just too fresh to not catch on.

Posted on 03.05.10 | Andrew Beckford No Comments

Engineers are awesome.  Why you ask? Because they are always taking good things and making them better!  Take Cosworth USA for instance, I just read on their blog that they are producing their own take on the Mitsubishi Evo X intercooler that will bolt right up in the stock position.  They also revealed that a mandrel-bent intercooler piping kit will be available soon as well.
