Ok, so it took me a little longer than everyone else but my review of Forza Horizon is finally here. I got the game early last week thanks to Turn 10 Studios and Playground Games and all the while I have been diving into this new Forza-venture, doing my best to analyze what Playground Games created. I can say today I finally have formed a solid opinion! So, is Horizon really worth all the hype that everyone (including myself) has given it? Is it really just another “arcade racer”? Will this be a black eye on the face of Forza Motorsport’s legacy? Or is it every bit what many of us hoped it would be? Scroll down and to find out what I think. Also stay tuned this week for a special treat I am putting together just for you guys!

If you were starting to feel like your Forza experience was starting to get a bit stale the guys at Turn 10 Studios hit us all with a new DLC pack for August. The awesome part is that the new Playseat DLC pack includes my new favorite coupe the Scion FR-S! For a while I thought maybe the FR-S would be exclusive to Gran Turismo 5 since they worked closely with Toyota for the concept’s debut. Luckily I was wrong and now we can all play with the FR-S in Forza land! The DLC pack also includes the new Camaro ZL1 and the 2003 Aston Martin DB7 Zagato. For the full list of cars and the official trailer scroll below. The Playseat August DLC pack can be yours on August 7th for 560 Microsoft Points AKA 7 bucks.

Today the February ALMS DLC pack was released for Forza Motorsport 4 on the Xbox Live marketplace. The DLC pack goes for 560 microsoft points AKA about 7 bucks which is a pretty good price considering the 10 top notch cars you get in the pack. However if you just cant seem to find enough points in your virtual pockets then we have a way for you to get this new DLC pack for free! How? Well, it is simple. Actually it is not that simple. You see we only have one DLC code to give away so we have to make sure who ever we give it to really deserves it so in order to deem who is worthy we are holding a contest.
We know there are many talented painters and graphic designers in Forza land and for this contest we are calling on you. We want to see your best MotorworldHype themed livery in Forza Motorsport 4. Look at our website for inspiration. The only limitations to the design is that you have the MotorworldHype logo on your livery somewhere. Your design can be on any type of car and you can have the car in your marketplace to download (if your design is the winner we will probably be first in line to download it!). After you finish your design post a link to a picture of it in the comments of this post, tweet a link to the picture to @MotorworldHype, or post pictures on our wall at Facebook.com/MotorworldHype
We will stop accepting submissions after 12:01am Monday (February13th) morning. Later on that day (February 13th) we will choose ONE winner and announce the winning submission here on MotorworldHype.com. You may only submit one design (multiple submissions will be disqualified).
Good luck and we are looking forward to seeing what you come up with!

A while back I showed you the trailer for the new DiRT Showdown game which is coming down the pipe from Codemasters. When the trailer hit the intertubes it raised a lot of questions about the future direction of the DiRT series. The biggest question was: Is DiRT Showdown really “DiRT4″? Well recently I was invited to get a hands on preview of DiRT Showdown. Not only did I get to play an early draft of the game myself I also got to speak with Showdown’s associate producer Iain Smith and ask him some of the hard questions. Before we get to that I will answer a few of those questions right now. First of all yes, Ken Block will be making a return appearance in DiRT Showdown in his current Ford Fiesta ”Hybrid Function Hoonigan Vehicle” AKA H.F.H.V. Secondly, Gymkhana mode will be back and improved from DiRT3, meaning that it wont be so damn hard to execute stunts and tricks. Finally, as the trailers suggest there will be a demolition derby element to DiRT Showdown. There are more burning questions that will be answered straight from in our interview as well as some gameplay footage and new screen shots scroll below!

Word on the street is that someone from Turn 10 Studios “leaked” this promo video which contains actual game-play footage from Forza 4. This may be a bit a of a publicity stunt since E3 2011 is rapidly approaching. The video (complete with Rob Zombie) soundtrack gives a glimpse at the new user interface, photo-real graphics, details on how the game will integrate Kinect functionality, and some info about new racing locations for professional events with clips that suspiciously look like Top Gear test track. Scroll down below to see it all for yourself.
