If you follow Japanese motorsports then you know about the fabled Tsukuba Circuit. Tsukuba is THE track when it comes to achieving time attack immortality. I remember back in the day it was a big deal to tick off a time that was anywhere close to one minute. Then the big task was trying to break the sub-minute mark. The video below shows how far tuners have come in this task as the RX-7 below you is about to pull off a 53.6 second lap! Pay close attention to the driver’s steering inputs. He probably has room to shave another second off his time. Its amazing!

Here is a little touch of “old school” for you guys. Just because you’re rocking a pre-90′s ride doesn’t mean it can’t look fresh. For those who don’t know there is a company called Origin Lab and they specialize in aero designs for some of the classics like the FC3S RX-7. The kit you see above is from their “Stream” line but they have a few other variations that are worth checking out.

The other day Drifting.com paid a visit to MazdaTrix over in Signal Hill to see what they were up to. If you weren’t aware MazdaTrix is Formula D driver Kyle Mohan’s biggest supporter. From the looks of things MazdaTrix is putting together a 3-Rotor engine for the Team Burgenholtz/APEXi RX-8 for next year. Hey Kyle, can you build a 4-Rotor for my beach cruiser?

The most important function for any engine is to breathe. The more your motor can inhale, the more power you can extract. If you’re rocking a Mazda equipped with the MZR motor this Inlet Manifold from Cosworth will have your engine taking deep breaths. Turbocharged or not this inlet will do the trick.
If you’re a Mazda fan then this weekend will be like a double X-mas. First on Saturday will be Sevenstock XI (or 11 if you don’t know your numerals) at the Mazda R&D headquarters in Irvine. Then on Sunday famed Mazda tuners and race team Tri-Point Engineering will be having an open house at their facility. Their race cars will be on display and the crew will be giving clinics on suspension setup. This weekend will be chocked full of Mazda freshness!
An oldie but a goodie, the A’PEX-i Power FC was one of the OG stand-alone fuel management system. Back in the day 3rd gen RX-7 guys swore by this set up although this isn’t just for wankel heads. If you know what you’re doing or if you know someone else who knows what you’re doing the Power FC can really optimize your car’s performance.
Now a days you can still get this set-up for the Mitsubishi Evo and a few others. If you’re shopping for ECU solutions the Power FC is more than worthy of your consideration.
