If you were starting to feel like your Forza experience was starting to get a bit stale the guys at Turn 10 Studios hit us all with a new DLC pack for August. The awesome part is that the new Playseat DLC pack includes my new favorite coupe the Scion FR-S! For a while I thought maybe the FR-S would be exclusive to Gran Turismo 5 since they worked closely with Toyota for the concept’s debut. Luckily I was wrong and now we can all play with the FR-S in Forza land! The DLC pack also includes the new Camaro ZL1 and the 2003 Aston Martin DB7 Zagato. For the full list of cars and the official trailer scroll below. The Playseat August DLC pack can be yours on August 7th for 560 Microsoft Points AKA 7 bucks.
Arguably the biggest most influential community within the Forza Motorsport world are the painters. These talented individuals can recreate just about any image using just the simple shapes editor within the game and their creations never cease to amaze me or even the development team at Turn 10 Studios. With Marvel’s “Avengers” coming out this Friday I thought it would be fitting to show this video of a painter with the YouTube handle “JustinBWay23″ creating a very detailed Iron Man bust picture based of an image he found on google images. The end result is pretty damn impressive if I say so myself. Watch his work come together shape by shape in the video below.
Mother’s Day, the release of the Avengers, the Indy 500, and my birthday all happen in the only three lettered month of the year which make’s May very, important. Today Turn 10 Studios just gave us another reason to look forward to next month as that is when the Top Gear DLC pack will be released on Xbox live! Cool right?! Unfortunately there are no two-engined limos or amphibious RVs in the 10 car pack but we do get the hopelessly fast Hennesy Venom GT and the immense awesomness of the Ford Transit Van! Yes the transit is finally coming to Forza! Can you imagine playing Top Gear soccer with that? You won’t have to imagine much longer as the Top Gear pack comes out on May 1st for 560 Microsoft Points AKA 7 bucks. Scroll below for the full car list and official trailer
When playing a driving simulation game, like Forza Motorsport you might ask yourself how the developers make the cars in the game handle like their real-life counterparts. How do they do it? Well I used to think they had some type of program in which they just entered the weights and dimensions of each car and the software did the rest. That might have been true before but when Turn 10 Studios set out to make Forza Motorsport 4 they almost totally threw out their old method of calculating handling characteristics and relied on a new method with the help of Pirelli tire. Turn 10 Studios had the epiphany that the essence of handling is literally where the rubber meets the road so they partnered with Pirelli tire to use the very same data from Pirelli’s tests and incorporated them into their physics engine to create a very realistic virtual interpretation of how a car will handle.
There is more detail on the process they took in the video below. Although, I should warn you: this video is almost like a physics lession! You might have to watch it more than once to grasp the concepts being discussed but if this type of thing interests you (I know it interests me!) you will not be disappointed!
If there is one thing that the guys at Turn 10 Studios strived for when making Forza Motorsport4 was authenticity. The team flew all over the world to visit race tracks and scan real live versions of all the cars you can play in the game. They also do extensive sound recording for each car to make sure that the exhaust note is just right. Generally speaking getting a car for sound recording is not very hard for them. They can rent or borrow just about any street car they need for recording. However they ran into a bit of a problem when they decided they wanted to put the legendary Mazda 787B 4-rotor LeMans winner in the game. It’s engine is so rare that the only way to get a recording was to go through Mazda and get one of the original race cars.
Getting Mazda to bring out one of the original cars is a feat in and of itself. However, that turned out to be only half the battle. Once the team got a 787B in their possession they realized that the 4-rotor’s wail was so powerful that it exceeded the limits of what their highly specialized audio equipment could capture! How did they manage? Check out the video below to find out.
As the Geneva Auto Show gets underway the guys at Turn 10 Studios drop a bombshell of awesomeness by announcing they have reached a deal with Electronic Arts and will be bringing Porsche to Forza Motorsport 4 in a “Porsche Expansion Pack“. The DLC pack will include 30 cars total, 7 of which will be totally new models that have not been available in any previous Forza game. In addition to cars the pack will include 20 new events, 10 new achievements, and Porsche centric “Rivals Mode” events. The Porsche Expansion Pack will be available May 22nd for 1600 Microsoft Points AKA 20 bucks.
If that news was not enough to blow your hair back Turn 10 also announced a new Forza game coming at the end of the year. It will be called “Forza Horizon” and will be developed by outside studio Playground Games. Word has it that Forza Horzion will be more of an arcade style racer rather than the full-on simulator experience you get with the current Forza games. Others are speculating that Horizon may actually turn out to be a type of open world MMO racing game but I guess we will have to wait until this fall to find out for sure. You can check out the official trailer for Forza Horizon below and come to your own conclusions.
It is a new month, which means new DLC for Forza Motorsport 4. This month marks the arrival of the March Pirelli Tire Car pack. Pirelli earned naming rights for this month’s DLC by partnering with Turn 10 Studios to help the team implement real world tire dynamics to further help improve the handling characteristics of the cars in the game. In the Pirelli car pack you get 10 bright and shiny new cars including gems like the 2011 Aston Martin V12 Zagato and the road-trip-eriffic Ford Country Squire station wagon. If that sounds like your kind of party the March Pirelli Car Pack will be available tomorrow on the XBox Live Marketplace for 560 Microsoft Points AKA 7 bucks. If you bought the season pass then all you have to do is find it in your message center and hit download! For a video preview of the new DLC as well as the full car list, just scroll down.

Ever want to know how a Bugatti Veyron goes from some rich guy’s garage into your virtual Forza Motorsport garage? In the latest installment of their “Making Of” series the guys from Turn 10 Studios not only explain how they digitize cars into the game but how they find cars to digitize into the game in the first place. This is good stuff, watch below.
Today the February ALMS DLC pack was released for Forza Motorsport 4 on the Xbox Live marketplace. The DLC pack goes for 560 microsoft points AKA about 7 bucks which is a pretty good price considering the 10 top notch cars you get in the pack. However if you just cant seem to find enough points in your virtual pockets then we have a way for you to get this new DLC pack for free! How? Well, it is simple. Actually it is not that simple. You see we only have one DLC code to give away so we have to make sure who ever we give it to really deserves it so in order to deem who is worthy we are holding a contest.
We know there are many talented painters and graphic designers in Forza land and for this contest we are calling on you. We want to see your best MotorworldHype themed livery in Forza Motorsport 4. Look at our website for inspiration. The only limitations to the design is that you have the MotorworldHype logo on your livery somewhere. Your design can be on any type of car and you can have the car in your marketplace to download (if your design is the winner we will probably be first in line to download it!). After you finish your design post a link to a picture of it in the comments of this post, tweet a link to the picture to @MotorworldHype, or post pictures on our wall at Facebook.com/MotorworldHype
We will stop accepting submissions after 12:01am Monday (February13th) morning. Later on that day (February 13th) we will choose ONE winner and announce the winning submission here on MotorworldHype.com. You may only submit one design (multiple submissions will be disqualified).
Good luck and we are looking forward to seeing what you come up with!
