Arguably the biggest most influential community within the Forza Motorsport world are the painters. These talented individuals can recreate just about any image using just the simple shapes editor within the game and their creations never cease to amaze me or even the development team at Turn 10 Studios. With Marvel’s “Avengers” coming out this Friday I thought it would be fitting to show this video of a painter with the YouTube handle “JustinBWay23″ creating a very detailed Iron Man bust picture based of an image he found on google images. The end result is pretty damn impressive if I say so myself. Watch his work come together shape by shape in the video below.
Mother’s Day, the release of the Avengers, the Indy 500, and my birthday all happen in the only three lettered month of the year which make’s May very, important. Today Turn 10 Studios just gave us another reason to look forward to next month as that is when the Top Gear DLC pack will be released on Xbox live! Cool right?! Unfortunately there are no two-engined limos or amphibious RVs in the 10 car pack but we do get the hopelessly fast Hennesy Venom GT and the immense awesomness of the Ford Transit Van! Yes the transit is finally coming to Forza! Can you imagine playing Top Gear soccer with that? Today the February ALMS DLC pack was released for Forza Motorsport 4 on the Xbox Live marketplace. The DLC pack goes for 560 microsoft points AKA about 7 bucks which is a pretty good price considering the 10 top notch cars you get in the pack. However if you just cant seem to find enough points in your virtual pockets then we have a way for you to get this new DLC pack for free! How? Well, it is simple. Actually it is not that simple. You see we only have one DLC code to give away so we have to make sure who ever we give it to really deserves it so in order to deem who is worthy we are holding a contest.
We know there are many talented painters and graphic designers in Forza land and for this contest we are calling on you. We want to see your best MotorworldHype themed livery in Forza Motorsport 4. Look at our website for inspiration. The only limitations to the design is that you have the MotorworldHype logo on your livery somewhere. Your design can be on any type of car and you can have the car in your marketplace to download (if your design is the winner we will probably be first in line to download it!). Tomorrow is a new month which means a new DLC pack for Forza Motorsports 4 is on the way! February will bring the ALMS Pack which will include a few LeMans jems like the 1991 Mazda 787B 4-Rotor race car and the 2011 Audi R18 TDI. For some extra fun the pack will also include UFC fighter Rampage Jackson’s widebody Dodge Challenger and the Platnium Motorsports widebody Bentley Continental GT that won Best Of Show at Forza’s 2011 E3 car show. I am a little late to the party on this but shortly after Hyundai announced the Veloster Turbo they digitally launched the car as DLC in Forza Motorsport 4. In the Veloster DLC pack you get a shiny new Hyundai Veloster Turbo, Rhys Millen Racing’s Veloster rally-cross car, and a walkaround of the new Veloster Turbo in Autovista mode. Most importantly this DLC pack is free! So, head over to the xbox live marketplace after popping in Forza Motorsport 4 download yourself some turbocharged Korean awesomeness.
Most people are used to seeing C.J. Wilson on the pitchers mound but many may not know that he is actually an accomplished race car driver. When Baseball is in the off-season C.J. campaigns his own team in Mazda’s Playboy MX-5 cup. I was actually invited to lunch with C.J. and Mazda a while back and during the meal the Pitcher/Driver revealed that one of the ways keeps his racing chops sharp is by playing Forza Motorsport and he feels he is pretty good at it too, so much so he has decided to put his money (or in this case memrobillia) where his mouth is. In the “King Of The Track Challenge” he charges us all to beat his time in Forza Motorsport 4 for a chance to win some cool swag, including a C.J. Wilson Racing jacket signed by the man himself. There are also special edition DLC cars up for grabs as well.
If you want to take a crack at beating C.J.’s (Gamertag: Cjwilson33) time just pop in Forza Motorsport 4 and look for the “King Of The Track” event in the “Community Monthly” section of “Rivals” mode, then have at it!
Our number two item on our top ten gift list is the ultimate in racer-escapeism. Say you have Forza Motorsport 4 and the Fanatec CSR Forza 4 wheel, even though both those items are cool together if you want the ultimate trifecta you need the Forza Mototsport 4 Edition REVO Playseatto complete the experience. There are a lot of racing sim seats out there but Playseat is always at the top of the list due to their construction, limited editions, and ease of use. We have had the Forza Motorsport 3 Edition seat for a while and we are getting acquainted with the new Forza Motorsport 4 seat and so far we can tell you that things are going well enough that we would definitely recommend it as a potential gift this season. Although you may need to put in rush shipping to get it by Christmas! If you like to race you know that there is nothing worse than the times when you are NOT racing. We try to get our fix by playing games like Forza Motorsport 4 to take the edge off but even then we still can’t quite get the level of realism we want with the standard controller in our hands. Steering with your thumb on an analog stick is nice but it just is not quite the same as holding a wheel in your hands. For an added touch of realism you may want to put Fanatec’s Forza Motorsport CSR wheel on your gift list this year. With up to 900 degrees of rotation, top of the line forcefeed back motors and high resolution steering input sensors this is one of the best steering virtual steering wheels you can get right now and the $249 price tag reflects that. There is also a shifter set and aluminum pedal set available to go with your wheel as well. The full package with the wheels, shifter set, and pedals will run you about $459. While that seems like an astronomical price this set up is pretty high quality, plus there is the added bonus of Playstation 3 compatibility. Before this wheel, consumers had to buy a wheel for their Xbox 360 and a wheel for their PS3. So in a way you are actually getting two-wheels in one. If your one of the few gear heads on earth who does not own Forza Motorsport 4 yet then you should definitely add it to your gift list for the holidays this year. Over the years the Forza Motorsport series has really come into its own and has gone from a pretender to the Gran Turismo throne to the king of the realm. There is also so much more for players to explore in the latest chapter including Top Gear challenges and the beautiful Autovista mode, which when coupled with Microsoft Kinect lets the player take a virual walk around of a long list of beautiful supercars and other cars that are notable to the car lover culture. This game is a MUST HAVE if you love cars even just a little bit. If you do not have an Xbox 360 then go ahead and put one of those on the list too or buy one because it is worth getting the console just for this game! The downloadable content train for Forza Motorsport 4 keeps rolling along. Just as we finish enjoying our goodies from the November Speed Pack, we hear an announcement that IGN teamed up with Turn10Studios to bring you the “IGN December Pack“ due to hit the Xbox Live Marketplace on December 6th for 560 microsoft points (about 7 bucks) although if you bought the season pass you can simply download it as soon as its released.
