The “One of One” car show that followed Formula Drift in 2010 is now the “Slammed Society Showcase” which will also be produced by Fatlace. While the name has changed the game hasn’t. Just like One of One this show aims to bring in only the cream of the crop when it comes to show cars in the local area. It is sure to be a big draw to Formula Drift. What better way to kill time between drift sessions than to check out top notch show cars? I can’t wait for the first show, which will take place at the first round of Formula Drift in Long Beach on April 9th.

I’m not sure what possessed my buddy Jay from JDM EGO to release this “Hella Bored With Stance” license plate frame, then again I guess the statement makes the motivation obvious. The more likely explanation is that Jay is just having a little good natured fun with our Hellaflush friends up north. Either way, this is bound to get some attention among the hard core guys whether you agree or disagree. Just call me Switzerland because I am neutral on this one!
What is more coveted and sought after more than a Nissan Skyline? How about a vintage 1974 Nissan Skyline 2000GT that’s been done over by “Fatlace” captain Mark Arcenal? Circle get’s the square if that was your guess. At the upcoming San Francisco meet “WekFest” Mark will be officially unveiling the bone stock ’74 Skyline that will be transformed into the rendering you see above (and in the thumbnail below) by Jon Sibal. The Skyline will then be given away to one lucky son of a sandwich in October. Along the way Mark will document the build with pictures and professionally produced video pieces to keep all of us hopefuls updated on the car’s progress. Details on how to enter will be released the day after WekFest on 2.21.11. If you plan on entering then good luck to you because you are going to have a lot of competition!
On February 20th, 2011 at Wekfest in San Francisco, Fatlace will be unveiling it’s latest classic car project, a 1974 Nissan Skyline 2000GT which will be given to one very lucky person at our end of year event, Fatlace Klassik. Details will be announced at Wekfest and online the following day, 2.21.2011. We hope to see all of you there and make sure to check back frequently as we drop some sweet video gems of this build.
Sponsors: Fatlace, Rays, Toyo Tires, Speedhunters, Super Street, Jon Sibal.
Each month, the Skyline will be updated, modified and documented and as it starts its life being a stock body 2000GT Ken & Mary, it’ll turn into this render by the one and only Jon Sibal who I teamed up with to create this masterpiece.
They say if you got haters that means you’re doing something right. So why not let the world know that you’re on the right track? At the JDM EGO store you can get a double pack of the new “I Get Hated On!” license plate frames in both color ways. The best part is that the two pack is only 18 bucks! Sweet!
Show love to the posers with the classic JDM EGO “I Heart Your Fake Wheels” license plate frame. This has been a hot item for a while now so if you really want to set yourself apart I suggest going with the pink color which is “super limited”. Do it..
These have been around for a while now but I think it is way past time that the Hellaflush license plate frame has a spot on MotorworldHype.com. If you’re wheels are Hellaflush then you are required to buy this frame ASAP. So it is written…
Ladies and gentlemen, this is officially the illest badge. What? You don’t believe me? Just look at it! It is clearly the illest badge! If you want the illest badge you can get then hit up Fatlace.com.
Calvin Wan has been busy in the off-season! Over the drifting break he collab’d with Fatlace and a design firm called Objectify LLC to create a drifting game/app for the iPhone/iPod Touch that combines drifting with a Japanese form of painting called “Sumi-e“. It looks pretty fresh but to me this is both a win and a fail at the same time. How can it be both you ask? Well it wins for the obvious reason that its a unique game that combines art and drifting. However it fails because right now it is only for the iPhone/iPod Touch AKA “hipster’s idol god”. Its great that they created a mobile app that combines one of our favorite motorsports and art all together but trendy Steve Jobs fanboy hipsters aren’t the only ones that like drifting!
I’m sure there is a good reason why this is iPhone/iPod exclusive right now but I would love to see this app for Android, BlackBerrry, and Windows Mobile devices in the near future. So, if you have an iPhone or iPod I encourage you to download this and tell all your friends to do the same. Because the more people who buy this app the sooner Calvin will have the resources to port Drift Sumi-e to other phones!
Check out this video of Fatlace using something called a “La-ser” to cut out their logo in emblem form out of solid metal! Wow, these “La-sers” are something else! Yes I used a Dr. Evil bit in my post…sue me!
