The drift season got off to an early start over the weekend as the Xtreme Drift Circuitor XDC kicked off its first event ever at Irwindale Speedway. If you haven’t already been filled in the XDC is a new semi-pro drifting series designed to feed new talent into Formula D, upper echelon of professional drifting in America. Grassroots drifts came from all around the country and even some from as far as Canada to compete in the XDC’s first event ever. There were a few pros that made appearances as well such as Alex Pfeiffer, Jeff Jones, and Forrest Wang.
Surprisingly many of the more experienced drivers were taken out by before the competition was widdled down to the final four. Alex Pfeiffer fell to Forrest Wang in the first battle of the top 16 and then Forrest himself was booted out in the great 8! So who won? Dave Briggs from Canada was on fire all day and took first place, $3,000, and a spot in the Pro-AM nationals. Quoc Ly and Jeff Jones took second and third respectively.
All in all I’d say that this event went off pretty smoothly and had a much bigger turn out than most expected. My only gripe was that photographer areas on track were few and far between. As such I pretty much focused most of my shots in the ReMIX car show area which was pretty awesome in and of itself by the way.

You already saw yesterday that our favorite superbowl car commercial was Dodge’s “Last Stand“. Well we just found out from Dodge themselves that following on the heels of all that testosterone will be a contest dubbed the “Super Beard Bowl”. Contestants will send pictures of their clean shaven faces to Dodge’s Facebook page as a “before” marker. Then when the contest ends on March 21st the “after” pictures will be posted and voted on by the Facebook universe. Whoever the interweb chooses as the best beard winner will have their choice to attend any Dodge Motorsport race they want (we would suggest a World Challenge series race, those Comp Coupes are awesome). You can check out the full press release and rules below.

Through the new commercial, the Dodge Car Brand begins to re-establish its commitment to consumers who love driving expressively designed vehicles that serve as a form of self expression and are exhilarating to drive, while informing all viewers that the Dodge brand has a renewed energy and focus.

A little while ago Enkei dropped a teaser image of a new wheel dubbed the PF01 that will make its debut at this year’s SEMA. According to Enkei the new PF01 will be “ultra-lightweight” and will actually come in less than the RPF1 on the scales. We’ll try to keep you posted on this until it makes it’s official drop on November 2nd. If the front looks anywhere near as good as the back then this wheel is going to blow up big.
