Coming soon is the second application of Cosworth’s new stand alone ECU. The first EC Pro dropped earlier this year for the WRX but come SEMA time we will see the debut of a new Cosworth EC Pro for the Mitsubishi Evo X. There are a ton tuning and data-logging possibilities with this thing however I’m no where near smart enough to understand them all! As you may have guessed the EC Pro is meant for serious tuners only. So if you get this you better make sure you know what you’re doing or you know someone (or a shop) that knows what they’re doing!
The Series 2 EMS has finally come to H-town. If you head over to AEM’s website you can now order a Series 2 EMS plug and play ECU for most popular 4-cylinder Honda applications. Everything from EG Civics to the S2000. Rejoyce tuners! your new canvas has arrived.
If you’re planning on turning your brand new Nissan 370Z in to an all out race car then engine management is going to be a big concern. The Cobb Tuning ACCESS Port is aweome for most street applications but for a racing set up you need a little more depth. Thats where their ACCESS Tuner software comes in. It pretty much allows for full on custom mapping for anything you’re trying to do with your Z. Rumor has it that there is a custom map you can create that will turn your car into a Transformer….just a rumor though…
Cosworth just dropped their first consumer stand-alone ECU ever! Their new “ECPro” was designed using Cosworth’s catalog of knowlege when it comes to creating motorsport ECU’s for everything from F1 to WRC Rally and nearly everything in between. The debut ECPro is for Subaru EJ25 equipped rides but expect more applications to drop in the near future.
For a long time now MoTeC has been the end all when it comes to stand alone engine management systems and even piggy pack systems. They’ve finally gotten around to blessing the Mitsubishi Evo X with their electronic godliness. Expect the full gammut of ECU tuning and data logging with the M800 and if you really want gain full control there is also a controller for the electronic differential system.
I saw this on GTRmod.com. Haltech currently working on a stand-alone ECU unit for the GT-R that will be under their Platinum series. There will be a boost control solinoid and wideband controller available as well. I can’t wait to see what some crazy mofo with gobs of cash does to his or her GT-R with this thing once it drops.
Its been a while since I checked in on these guys. They’ve been busy! They have this new software flash for the E90 and E92 BMW M3 that increases power by 15HP. Now you’re probably thinking that 15 horses isn’t much but this is an increase across the entire power band. That’s pretty impressive if you ask me! The software even comes with a “launch control” feature so even if you dont have the 6 speed manual you can still put rubber down like a pro.
Here is a vid of the launch control feature in action:
Well at the top of the “that didn’t take long list” is sitting a brand new reflashed ECU for the freshly released Nissan 370Z. Of course this was pulled off by Mine’s Japan, the same tuning house that was the first to crack the “un-crackable” Nissan GT-R ECU. So what did Mine’s do with the 370Z ECU? For starters the speed limiter is removed, the rev limit is increased, and a new fuel map was flashed to increase performance. However it still retains the factory emission controls and “immobilizer” function. For the time being it might be hard to pick this up stateside but hit up their U.S. Distributor to see what they can do.
This is for all the REAL “tuners” out there. HKS just released Version 3.3 of their F-CON V Pro piggyback ECU for the American market. I don’t know too much about engine tuning but I do know this is nothing but good. Also, its goollldddddd!
Here are some of the new features that come with Version 3.3:
• Expanded vehicle applications including Mitsubishi’s Lancer Evolution X
• Air flow input voltage monitoring
• Direct inputs for: Fuel pressure, Oil pressure and Oil temperature
• Compatibility with the HKS A/F Knock Amp 2 (AFK)
• Deceleration fuel cut by vehicle speed, improving low speed drivability
• Flat shift (wide open throttle) rpm control
• Pit lane speed limiter
• Compatibility with HKS Valcon
• Improved Idle Control Valve control
• Error code reporting and memory function
• Oil Pressure, oil temp warning light option output
• RPM, ignition cut, and data logging warning/indicator light output
Sneaker and street wear collabs are cool; Aftermarket collabs are cooler! The Euro heads at Active Autowerke got together with tuning masters AEM to create the ACTIVE Processor a stand-alone for the current BMW turbo models including the 1 series. It has all the functionality and tune ability of your average AEM EMS but tailor made for the new flock of boosted beemers.
