In a bit of breaking news we have just learned that our friends from BMI Racing has just signed a sponsorship deal with Snap-On tools supporting their one of a kind Mazda RX-8 4-rotor drift car for the Formula Drift “Throwdown” round this weekend in Seattle and the upcoming Formula Drift “After Dark” round in Las Vegas.  This is huge news for the small team with the big sounding car that has been making waves all season.  We would like to extend our congrats to Adam & Sarah Burgess and also to their driver Drift Alliance Ace Brian Wilkerson.  Check out the press release below for all the details.

Wilkerson’s BMI Racing’s Drift car will feature the Snap-on logo and special scheme for those two races.  Snap-on will also have franchisee vans at the racing venues for the two Drift events. Snap-on has been involved with Formula Drift racing in each of the previous two seasons.

Drifting is a high-skill, high-powered motor sport that calls for drivers to control a 200 horsepower to 700 horsepower car while it slides sideways at high speed through a marked course.  It is similar to rally racing, but is held on a closed course and judged on execution and style rather than finishing the course fastest.

This is a nicely produced video by Josh Herron and Will Roegge of Chris Forsberg’s personal recap of Formula Drift Atlanta.  Its cool to get Chris’ POV of how everything went down.  Definitely a good watch!

I know this DVD has been out for quite some time now but I never got around to watching it until now.  I loved the first Drift Alliance DVD and “Stay Hungry” doesn’t disappoint.  In this flick we get an introduction to Ryan Tuerck and the Drift Alliance aces.  The whole video pretty much takes you along shot gun with the crew as the travel the country (and even a few other countries) competing against each other, having fun, and getting half naked.  You’re wondering about that last one but it will all become clear once you watch it.  Oh and I highly recommend checking out “Sergio and the bear” in the bonus features.  So bottom line if you like drifting, drunken crazy antics, and alligators you should pick up this DVD.  Its available right now in WreckedMagazine.com’s store for about 15 bucks.  Money well spent in my opinion!

It’s been a long hard road for the BMI Racing team but after a lot of work they’re famous 4 rotor RX-8 has finally had its first sideways session with Drift Alliance Ace Brian Wilkerson behind the wheel.  This footage was taken on Wednesday of this week as the team took a trip out to Willow Springs race way to get the suspension sorted out for the first round of Formula D this weekend on the streets of Long Beach.  If they look as good in Long Beach as they do here I expect an impressive first outing for the team.

Last night I got to visit Rob Dyrdek’s Fantasy Factory and hang out with the who’s who of the drifting community and the actions sports set to whitness the official debut of Vaughn Gittin Jr’s new Falken Tire/Monster Energy Drink 2011 Ford Mustang drift car.  There was free alcohol, fish tacos, and lots of green light!  However I don’t drink so I was only able to enjoy the latter of the three.  It was pretty cool walking around the same place I watch Rob Dyrdek “do work” on MTV.  Even the mini Subaru from Gymkahna 2.1 was on display!  Check out some pics below and even more in our StreetFire photo gallery.

JUSTIN PAWLAK TO DRIFT 2010 FALKEN TIRE

FORD RACING MUSTANG

 FONTANA, CA (Feb. 12, 2010) - Fontana, CA. - As the 2010 Formula Drift season gets ready to begin, Falken Tire would like to welcome the newest member to its drift team, Justin Pawlak. Campaigning the newly built 2010 Ford Mustang sporting Falken Tires world-renowned blue and teal livery, Justin looks to march toward the top of Formula Drift in his 3rd full season. ASD in Charlotte, North Carolina is prepping the Mustang for its 2010 debut at Long Beach and will work closely with Justin to get him comfortable in his new ride.

As a full-time driver in the 2008 Formula Drift season, Justin got his first podium at Irwindale finishing 16th overall for the season earning him an invitation to the Drifting World Championship. He followed that up with multiple Top-16’s and a 9th place overall points finish in 2009.
